Animation blend only half working

by Andy Hawkins · in Artist Corner · 04/29/2006 (8:47 am) · 2 replies

When I set up a blend animation for my character to hold a gun the right arm points up, while the left arm is where is should be holding the gun further up.

Anyone know a work around for this? I'm only exporting the nodes relevant to the arms, but exporting all the nodes does the same thing.

The first pic is the way it is in Lightwave and the 2nd pic is the way it ends up in Torque.

BTW I did get the look and head blends to work - so it seems to be something else about the exporter.

After some experimentation if I bring the right arm less than 320mm away from the chest it snaps up as in the second picture. I tried adding a pitch limit on the forearm to make it impossible to bring it up that high but the DTS exporter or Torque overrides this. So for the time being I have to have the character hold the gun a little further out infront to over come this problem.

Any other way around this????

C'mon you guys must have had blending issues before - care to share any ideas of why this is happening?
