OpenGL problem?

Dear Everyone Listening,
I've come to the end of my tether on this,
so I came here.
When I start my game, the screen goes black for a second and then
switches back to Windows. The game continues to run as a process in the
background, but does not show up as an Application. i.e. the game doesn't show
any graphical display.
I have tested this on multiple machines and never come across this.
The hardware is:
2.85 Ghz , 512 RAM(Dell)
Monitor: Plug and Play monitor on Intel 82865G
Videocard: Unfortunately, I can't check.
Has anyone come across this before?
Thank you for your time,
Mark

I had a similar issue, that may be what you mean. i could load torque and watch it close but leave the running process in the task window. i could even load more then one and nothing. i believe it was my main.cs file in the game folder. can't remember exactly what all it was, but it wasn't loading the right thing. if thats no help, sorry.

"starter.fps" is the name of the folder. There are a few other folders there as well that you can try out.
namely: starter.racing, and demo.

Make sure the following code is in the main.cs that is with the exe.$defaultGame = "starter.fps";

Check your video drivers. If they are out of date, you will have this problem.

Try removing your prefs.cs/dsos that pop up in places. If you have any of them that are read-only they can occasionally fowl up

Ya i removed them all already, seems like my prefs.cs isn't even there, it keeps going away, and my console.log says its not there.

Its obvious that this is a very common problem there are a few threads related to it in different sections the best answer weve gotten is that it is caused by having a non compliant sound card such as onboard or -c model, weve been informed of the problem but not a solution, i have been getting the same problem and i use a laptop therefor a new soundcard is not an option we need some responses please...i am also getting the same problem when i load commercial exe games useing this engine like tubetwist ... ! thats pretty bullshit sort it out
