New guy step after compiling...

EDIT: Re-wording the entire post.
I'm totally new but I have a burning desire to learn. I ask for a simple straightforward answer if possible, please.
I purchased TGE and downloaded my copy. Opened it up, went thru a really nice PDF basic tutorial that gave me a good feel, and launched a pre-compiled EXE to kind of toy-around the editors and get the feel of my game.
Now it's no joke that TSE makes a huge different at an excellent price. I also understand the milestones and how it is not a finished product. However, regardles off my endless searching I cannot satisfiy my questions. Every post that 'search' returns is nearly a year old, or is.
I downloaded TSE and had to learn to use a compiler. Wasn't totally ready for that, but blam, and I understand the basics, too. Did a lot of reading and I'm comfortable with functions, variables, etc, etc. If I pride myself on anything, it's my ability to learn fast. But apparently my search skills lack major mojo!
So my question is, with the compiled engine I downloaded (TSE) what all is there right now I can do with it thats user friendly? I don't totally understand what "Atlas" is, since I have no GUI representation of it (or what I'd expect, a nice friendly demo and/or PDF file like TGE had).
Keep in mind I did say I understand it's a work in progress. Also let me add in my background is with Unreal Technology and making maps/coding unsing 'UnrealScript' and 'Unreal Editor' add/subtract deal.
How would I start to make a game (even if it's something as simple as what the TGE PDF document put me thru) using TSE? Should I in any way be "merging" my 'installation' of TGE and TSE? Or is TSE totally independant (despite incomplete) from TGE's files and what-not? Right now in TSE is /everything/ done manually?
Could someone please out of the kindness of their experienced heart take a moment to explain the current abilities of TSE and the basic (no need to go into depth just give me names and direction) layout of how I proceed in making anything with TSE?
I have sincere desire and dedication to push forward my idea and publish it with GG. I totally believe in myself if I can get started (tried to learn Flash but was stuck, got someone to give me a 5 minute run down on Ventrilo and now 1 month later I'm making flash intros for clan websites - that dont 'suck' hehe)....
I just think a little good responce from someone would help me tremendously. Thanks in advance.
ADD: I see this thread about M3 being released (http://www.garagegames.com/mg/forums/result.thread.php?qt=42470) and how there is changes to 'the editor'. What editor? I don't even see how I get into a TSE editor. I'm confused. Please don't gouge your eyes out and just set me straight :)
