Need some Village Item Ideas

by AndrewOsborne · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 04/18/2006 (6:33 am) · 6 replies

Hi All,

I have been working away at this small village area for a while, and I think its getting a bit stagnant on me :(. I cant think of any items etc to populate the area with, at the moment it looks very bland.

Theres the structures, but nothing to go with them!(as you can see below)

So fire away at anything you think should be included in this scene, as wacky or plain as you may think it is, I would love to hear it :)

Thanks!

I could be totally off base but...

- A rack of animal hides drying in the sunlight.
- A water trough.
- A small animal pen for pigs and whatnot.
- A practice target on a tripod (archery, axe throwing).
- Small animal carcasses hanging from racks.
- A cauldron for your campfire.
- A loom for making tapestries.
- Bails of hay.
- General debris scattered about. This depends on how "lived in" you want your camp to look.

I think you're right on, Claudio! Although, since this seems to be a more primitive camp, probably not hay bales or loom...

- Everything should feel primitive... poles or sticks lashed together or woven together. The animal pen would be woven out of saplings.
- Baskets... with foodstuffs in them: fish, fruit, grain, etc. Or arrow heads... Or smokable products... =)
- Hides stretched on frames, perhaps with artwork
- Bundles of sticks, or arrows
- Totems... carved from wood (like the Pacific NW native americans) or bones/skulls/feathers/antlers hanging from stakes around the perimeter of the camp; to ward off the evil spirits of course. =)

Looks pretty cool, Andrew... good luck!
