Anyone using Vue?

Is anyone using Vue for making of terrain etc? Just curious how easily it would export to be usable in a Torque environment...
I'm really new - so yeah... bear with my question :)

Do you think that since it is such a high poly count - some of the stuff that can crank out is just AMAZINGLY breathtaking - would torque have a hard time efficiently running it in your opinion?
While the Torque engine is incredibly robust - would this be just past the limits - polygon wise - or could it handle it - you would just need the newest monster gaming machine to actually play in a world modeled in this? :)

Converting a whole Vue scene to Torque is probably quite a lot of work (converting, optimizing). While some scenes might run ok on monster gaming machines, I doubt that it's a viable solution for game development, at least as far as models are concerned.

I had a brief look at Vue and its exporting abilities. As far as I remember, you can export some of the stuff as 3ds and texture map, at least the terrain. However, those models would probably be quite high-poly, as far as the terrain is concerned, it depends of the degree of refinement you apply. You can also export the terrain as a heightmap and reuse it in Torque. Converting a whole Vue scene to Torque is probably quite a lot of work (converting, optimizing). you can however export the terrain as a hight map and use that.

Yeah, its not realy good for real time 3d apps.you can however export the terrain as a hight map and use that.

Thanks again for your thoughts...

OK cool - Wasn't looking to use this as the primary 3d-modeler - mostly interested in the terrain effects (and yes - i realize that alot of that is due to the 3d-modeling and animating of the trees - grass - water - etc...) as the capabilities of this program as incredible. But yeah - realize that to actually utilize it's full potential - one would need the monster of all monster machines...Thanks again for your thoughts...

It is not just needing a monster machine, it's trying to fit the square Vue procedural rendering pipeline peg into a round real-time rendering hole. It wasn't designed for real-time gaming. It can be used for it in many instances such as creating heightmapped terrain or creating base tree geometry to export and reduce in another application or as a rendering solution for 2D images.
