but seriously I figure tse has at least a couple days left before it stops working no?
:)
in fact it prolly stops working regularily, at least for a very brief moment.
Honestly tho, the reason stuff gets out of date is because it stop's getting worked on.
take note the Original game[s] torque made as a different engine (name change)
then take note of that same engine today... how many years later?

I hope that it is around for a long time to come yet. I'm a noob so I would hate to spend 2 years learning it and for it to be way out of date. I hope development continues for a long time yet.

GarageGames and the Torque Game Engine have been around for 7 years. GarageGames is founded by game developers that had already been around longer than that before founding GarageGames. They aren't going anywhere and neither is the Torque Game Engine. The Torque Shader Engine has been in development for 2 years already and it's not even finished. It probably won't be done until 2007. You have no worries.
The fun question to ask is:who of the young ones will be in charge of GarageGames in the future?
For some reason... everytime I think of GarageGames... I think of Firefly and the Browncoats.

Well that's what they have been doing for years so far! :)
The right question should be
Does anyone know if Garage Games plans on developing Torque technology "SLOWLY" for years to come before getting out of Early Adopter status and move into Version 1.0?
Just a joke. :)
Hopefully they will Marcus as hardware and game development progresses they will keep up with it; as long as they have a sustainable business there is a chance that they will.
