by Evi - Cubix Studio · in General Discussion · 04/08/2006 (8:08 pm) · 25 replies

Hi everyone,

while waiting for my dev snapshot to get approved, i guess i'm gonna
post my 3rd character pack here to generate some sales, hopefully it's ok cubixstudio.com/images/cheeky.gif
cubixstudio.com/products/MaleNPC/CubixStudioMaleNPCPack.jpg

it's been a while since my last character pack (Male Pack),
i'm glad that i finally had some time to finish my 3rd pack, Male NPC Pack,
this time the price is $15,

please order it if you have some spare cubixstudio.com/images/blink.gif

i got many request for swimming, crawl and walk animation,
so i include those animations with this release, also with
the additional attack(punch), duck and of course
with all standard animations.

Since all of my animations use the same bone structure (default Torque bone setup),
you can use these new animations with my other character pack interchangeably
(male/female/any other pack in the future),

here are some further information about this pack:

Wow, that looks great! Nice low price too, pretty good for base models people just need to retexture if they want anything different

So how do you go about implementing the swimming, crawl etc in scripts? Do you provide script changes as well or mods to the source code? If I bought it for example how would i get these non-standard animations to work in my game?

Thanks guys :D

@Donald:
Space Ship ??..... maybe soon,
Building a space ship will take lots of people, right now i only have 1 male, 1 female and those 2 NPCs, still need more manpower cubixstudio.com/images/cheeky.gif
@Andy:
there is no script implementation for swimming/crawling, since my scripting skill is limited cubixstudio.com/images/cheeky.gifhowever every DSQ is tested and should work fine in-game.

Here is the Demo Movie (Quicktime) for Swimming (i simply replace the run dsq with swim dsq).

Nice work again evi..!

if you're taking requests for animations, some shooting ones (rifle, shotgun, pistol), a sitting in car (idle) one, and a sitting on motorbike (idle) one would be cool ;-)

I think you could make some good money if you also started skin content packs for your models. That I would be interested in.

I would also LOVE a content pack full of realistic looking trees. I would pay for that as well ;)

Evi - looks great, will be buying very soon

animations - kneel, kneel with weapon (ranged), swimming in place (basically, have a full blown swim when MOVING in water, and have a sort of doggy paddle or something when not moving, where you actually are vertical again, but still moving your hands and feet a bit), backstroke (for moving backwords in water, side-stroke (moving sideways in water), and purely for the pleasure of seeing eve do it, a handstand =)

@Evi:

I picked up two of your packs, and I just have to say great work on these!

I agree with Marcus, you should consider creating some 'theme' pack skins for your characters. Another great idea would be to use the existing models as a 'base' mesh, and customize each one for the new skin. An example would be the pouches and collar on the brown character above. By extruding the mesh where the pouches and collar should be, you've taken these 'base' models to the next level of quality and added true 3d attributes to them.

Just my 10 cents. Great work BTW!

@Marcus: Have you taken a look at these trees? www.matthewcjones.com/Tree/Tree.html

@Evi:

Yet again you have come up with a totally professional model for a great price that I am going to have to buy to complete my set :)

Good news on the swim animation.

More textures would be the icing on the cake. Maybe a textures pack that can be used with your existing models.

Marcus: yes, great idea about texture packs..!

I'd love to see some cyberpunk skins...
Some generic modern-looking characters would be great too :)

Nice pack. :)

I would love some melee attack animations to go with that second skin. Whacking with a club or sword, a couple of different moves, blocking with a shield, would be great.

I like the idea of those theme packs, maybe with some accessories for each theme? So for example, a "medieval" theme pack, with some swords/axes/shield/bows and the custom animations using each, along with the new skins. And maybe minor variations of the model, some with pouches, shoulder pads, spike on their armor etc, as suggested.

Anyway, I like your work, keep it up Evi.

Well these packs are GREAT!! Evi now I need to grab the NPC male pack :) I was going to get the other one but i think the extra animations for the win.

See how easy it is to get a game prototype up and running :))

Hi everyone, thanks for the kind words & suggestions,
it makes me really happy cubixstudio.com/images/shy.gif
i'll keep releasing another affordable pack in the future :D

@Johny Hill:
all the DSQ animation should be compatible with my other pack, so you can use the new DSQ on the female pack also, BTW that's a great screeenshot with nice texture variation cubixstudio.com/images/happy.gif
