Hi guys,

This question has been roaming in my brain for weeks and i wanted to let it out because it was driving me nuts. So here it is, can Independent developers develop games for mobile platforms? if its no, why not?
if so would it be easier for Indies or harder and etc etc etc... please reply I'm very curious its an industry thats growing really fast.

Thanks for your Time

I'd LOVE to see T2D/TGB make its way to a mobile platform :) If anyone can do it, GG can.

Cell phones, PDA's, and the like have been a staple of indie casual games for a number of years. The N-Gage Java license was great for indies, though the C++ license was restrictive. I haven't checked in a long time, though. I may have changed. Game languages like Omega Basic and engines like Catapult (which sounds like it is on its last leg from the newsletter I got today) as popular among indies and hobbyists. Most popular mobile devices have SDK's ready and waiting for developers with a wide array of publishing plans available.

There's definitely a market, albeit a saturated one over the last several years.

There are TONS of game proposals, demos and finished games presented to mobilephone publishers (content aggregators) every week.
Most operators won't talk to you, they only talk to publishers becasue they do not want to deal with undreds of small companies
A certain number of PC/Console developers have gone solo, funding new small teams you can call indie, with the idea to capitalise in this growing business in the past 3 years.

This should not stop you from trying but if you do, make sure your idea/game is original and eyecandy before sending it to mobile games publishers or you won't make it past reception (sort of speak)
