Ok let me see if I get this right (Creation Tools Question)

To create the world you need Quark to make buildings you need something like Constructor. I don't like Quark and Constructor is stilll a ways off. Is there something that allows me to make buildings and the world including the sky box and all other attributes in one package? Cheap package...

You dont have to use BSP (dif) stly editors, but its the better choice.

But then again, it depends on the game your making.

If you are just making Buildings that are nothing but set pices (as in you cant go in) you may be better off using a 3d modling package.

The "world" and "sky box" are not made in quark. They are made in the ingame editor. Quark is manily used for interior spaces. ALA : Quake or doom.

The terrain is made in the game editor, so is the sky box, fog water ETC... (thoe you will need textures for thoes).

Hope that points you in the right direction.

I would sugest getting the demo and seeing what the editor its self can do.

I have the SDK and don't really like the in game editor that much. Haven't giving it the best chance I will focus more on it here soon as time frees up. The game will have building that the player will go into with no transition. So I would make the building in quark or some other BSP creator and then add it in using the in engine editor?

You should take a second look at both Quark and the in-game editors. These are not bad pieces of software. Both are powerful in what they offer though lilke most programs have nuances that trip people up at first blush. As anyone can tell you that uses Quark and the Torque editors they do what they advertise and that's really all you need.

Constructor should resolve many long-standing issues with Quark when its released but you would be hurting your development time if you opted to just wait for C to come out. No one knows when Constuctor will be finished so what's the point in doing nothing while waiting?

Wow. The ingame editor is one of the standout points for Torque, really. I've played with a lot of game editors/zone editors/whathaveyou. The TGE editor stands head and shoulders above every other one I've seen.

I imagine some internally designed game editors by top pro companies might be better - but I wouldn't bet the bank on it.

I rate 3D world studio for DIF creation. I'm not very experience with quark though.

I know for a fact that the TGE editor and *especially* the TGE gui editor are a huge amount better than the tools most devs have internally.

3D world studio is lightyears easer to use then quark, and dosnt require 2 hours to set up...

I like gamespace1.6 with the level editor from GreenbriarStudio. Once you understand how to use them, it is very easy to build level. Plus I am only learn one software. I have done level, models and models with animation. If you decide go this way I can help you.
