Lightwave to Torque Pipeline idea
by Andy Hawkins · in Artist Corner · 03/14/2006 (3:10 pm) · 7 replies
For my own sanity I've started making a Lightwave to Torque pipeline (procedure) so I don't run into the same problems time after time. It also speeds up work when making characters and static objects. It's basically a reference for me to know what to do next to get an object or character into Torque without having to remember everything, and for future use, when I've left a procedure for say 6 months and can just sraight back into it.
Does anyone want this once I'm done, or does everyone have their own way of doing this?
As an overview it will cover these steps.
Model
Unwrap
Texture
Rigg
Animate
Export
Script
Play!

And I also haven't had any real luck with map export from LW.
Grrr!

I'd love to see it. I'm always up for learning from other people's workflows. And I also haven't had any real luck with map export from LW.

Excellent - I'll post it as soon as possible. Do I need to bother about actual character modelling from scratch? Otherwise I will just cover consideration when modelling, and assume people have their own styles and leave it at that.

Maybe we can get a little LightWave Torque users group going or something.

No, I know how to model, but I have not done any rigging for TGE. That would be my main interest. But any experience you want to share is always a plus.Maybe we can get a little LightWave Torque users group going or something.

I'd leave character modelling as something seperate for now - the work flow will be nice to see :)

The assets are done, the document is almost complete. I will test it and upload it tonite.

That sounds like a really good idea, particularly to me with my seriously faulty memory...what were we talking about...Oh right, pipeline procedure :O)
Yes, I want it. Particularly for character set up/rigging/etc. I haven't done much in that department with Torque yet.
