Caves and Holes

I'm trying to make a simple cave for a demo I'm making, but I got a problem.
I want the cave to be in the side of a mountain that I've created. So I made a large mountain big enough to hold a small town inside. And that's just what I want to do, however after I've raised the ground to the hight I want it to be, how on earth do I carve out the mountain. And what if I want to have a small hole that leads into a large under ground cavern.

You will need to use the terrain editor to create the mountian. When you get to the point you want them to go "inside", you will need to select the pieces of terrain you want and "select empty". Then place your cave.
