Ok time to do it

by Donald "Yadot" Harris · in General Discussion · 03/10/2006 (7:44 am) · 10 replies

Well I am going to get TGE finally. Question should I wait until I get home or should I place my order while I am at work and then by the time I get home the email will be sent?

I can't wait to download it and make a little more than a bagillion dollars right after I release my MMORPG only after a 3 mos dev time :)

Seriously should I wait till i get home or purchase it now?

As soon as your card clears, you can download it. It's an extremely quick process.

Ok then cool I will just wait until I go home. Is there a compiled exe or is the only way to get that is to do it myself?

I'm thinking of finally becoming an sdk owner myself. is there any way to get 1.3 though?

Why 1.3?

@Donald
It comes with a pre-compiled version in the example folder.

@Sean
The Linux download is at 1.3. And I believe that you can check out the 1.3 branch from CVS (though I'm not sure on that one).

I hear 1.4 unicode doesnt play well with win98.

besides, most of my testing and functionality has been done for 1.3 demo base.

I can't wait to get into the secret forums and see all the awesome information I have been missing out on.

Well I don't know about the win98 thing, but I do know its pretty painless to port over 1.3 scripts to 1.4. Just copy them all over and make some minor changes if needed. I think the only change I had to make script wise was to the function that toggles firstperson view.

Urk. 98.

If that is your target, you could strip unicode. Or point them to the download site...which may go away soon since MS is phasing it out completely. Not to mention the security risk of running an OS without security updates.

Or you could play with this.

I managed to fix Unicode (and multithreading) on Windows 98/ME. TGE 1.4.2 will be fully backwards compatible with those operating systems and it should be out very soon.
