Does anyone on this list use the Greenbriar Lightwave Map Exporter and if so what is your pipeline for converting LW scenes / objects to DIF's to overcome this problem please?

I heard from the Greenbriar that the way Lightwave does textures is a bit wacky so the UV's need to be redone in Quark or something before exporting to Torque. Does anyone on this list use the Greenbriar Lightwave Map Exporter and if so what is your pipeline for converting LW scenes / objects to DIF's to overcome this problem please?

Anyway, after my meeting tonight I'll try to play a little bit. I wanted to do some checking for Canon anyway. It might be sometime this weekend, though.

I haven't used it in a long time because I had to seriously rethink my LW workflow. I have pretty good habits when it comes to creating models, but those habits are quite horrendous when making BSP-able ones. I like my tools, dammit!Anyway, after my meeting tonight I'll try to play a little bit. I wanted to do some checking for Canon anyway. It might be sometime this weekend, though.

If I could do that work in LightWave, it would be a truly great thing. Can't wait to hear more on this.

Loading OBJ files and trying to export them led me down a rather nasty path, though. Most people don't model "brush safe". I need to revamp my knowledge of the exporter so that I can.

I played for a little bit last night but didn't get much accomplished. I need to go back through the documentation. I also need to see if there's an update to the .map exporter.Loading OBJ files and trying to export them led me down a rather nasty path, though. Most people don't model "brush safe". I need to revamp my knowledge of the exporter so that I can.

..you're gonna have to write up a tutorial then, .. I gotta be doing something wrong. The constant thing with opening and closing windows is frustrating. It could be a great tool .. but not intuitive at all.

David what problems did you have with the obj files. I create a object library set. I have no problems with them.

What window you opening and closing Richard, If you talking scene editor, you can press F5 to fresh the scene editor to show your copy. I try some boolean cuts, i know you not surppose to do them but I was real carefully. They export good and MAP2DIF GUI export them fine. They load and look good in Torgue. I am working on tutorial now. I save the boolean section to the object library.David what problems did you have with the obj files. I create a object library set. I have no problems with them.

EDIT:
On another note, I should test out the GS ones.

I'm using the LW one and OBJ models from Canon's RTS pack as a test. The models are rather compact though, and probably not the best test for brushification. I'll have to make an architectural model and try it. Then extract the WAD and make sure things match up.EDIT:
On another note, I should test out the GS ones.

Here a update. I am now able to do curves and degrees in DIF map with Gamespace. I create a tower in about hour. My next project is to build one them nice elves or Orc build in DIF. There is no problem with export and no problem with collision in the Torque engine. I have build in Torque with 90 and 180 degree curve. It greatly increase workflow time.
