I have tried the demo of both. I got a lot further in 3dgs but the TGE engine is much more flexible. As far as limitations go TGE is what ever you want it to be. You get the source code so if you are smart enough you can amke it do what ever you need. 3dgs does not offer that. In that respect it makes 3dgs easier yet a lot more limited. But instead of creating a nother entire thread just do a search on like 3dgs vs tge or something like that.

Use the search feature on this site and Conitec's. This has been discussed to death, including rational and irrational posts.

Areal - I own 3DGS commercial edition and am sorry I do. That money would have been better spent on torque. Torque is definitely a superior engine, 3DGS simply doesn't have as many features or been tested over time. I would highly recommend spending the time to learn torques (rather large) learning curve then to spend the time figuring out workarounds in 3D Game Studio. If you don't know anything about game dev you might want to get 3DGS, as torque is a much more advanced engine. If you do buy torque make sure you buy Kenneth C. Finney's books:

You can convert .mdl files to .DTS in milkshape 3D.
