Where can I get my game sold?

I know all the big publishers like sierra and garage games and places like that, but where can I actually get my game sold?

Do you mean online distribution, box distribution, etc?

You can sell it right here on Garagegames, but i think they take a percentage. I'd have to double check.

.eGames, Lighthouse Interactive and Strategy First are some. Can't bother to link, search on google.

(sorry for the late reply)

If you set up an online store for your games, and press the CD's/DVD's yourself, you'll make a larger margin, but it can be hard work. It'll cost about $1,490 to press 1000 Cd's w/ printed covers and shrinkwrapped. But if you sell them for $25 each, you'll make... $37,250, which means your raw profit margin would be about $35,760 if you have the buyer pay for shipping.

These are just numbers, though. You'll need to continually press CD's and then sell the entire stock, which is the hard bit.

Meritline.com

What I'm doing is, first I'm selling products via pay-to-download. Then when enough funding can go towards actual boxed/cased games, I'll be using meritline.com from there on.

Blue DVD case: 200 pack is $47.99

DVD Case Inserts (the thing that is in between the case and the plastic protector): $28.95 for 50 of them (price varies)

DVDs: 200 pack for $77.99

decent CD cover printer can range from 199.00 to thousands of dollars.

insert printers I'm not sure. I'd imagine the same as a CD cover printer would be.

Basically, I would look at all your options first. I personally think it's better to publish your own games because you have more control, you get more money, and your publishing experience can go a LONG way and perhaps you may end up publishing other games made by other developer teams.

It IS expensive, and alot of hard work to publish your own games. But I personally think it's the most fun of the entire process. USE Meritline.com to plan your spendings. They have all kinds of 10 packs, 50 packs, 100 packs, 600 packs to suit your budget.

Also, if you happen to be selling a successful game, a good place to start with merchandise would be http://www.actionprintinginc.com. You can make alot of cool stuff at that place, and they sell very good.

Mark,

Nice url. I've been looking for clear plastic DVD cases at a good price and Meritline had just what I needed.

Thanks,
