Need to delete my contributions

by Jason Cahill · in Torque Developer Network · 02/25/2006 (12:08 am) · 7 replies

I've uploaded a bunch of images to a TDN article I'm working on, and found a tool that could make them 1/3 as big (30k instead of 90k each). I want to delete all of my images and start again, but I notice that there seems to be no way for me to nuke my own stuff.

Please say it ain't so! ;-)

I'd also like to be able to delete wiki pages that I've created incorrectly as well. Can we get a "delete" link somewhere for stuff that we create?

Our wiki is actually source controlled, and designed so that basically nothing can ever be deleted (except by hard work by admins) (many wiki's are, fyi). Basically, just upload the newer files, and correct the things you want to correct.

Basically, if you provide -anyone- the ability to delete things, you may wake up one day to find your wiki deleted down to an entirely empty site by webvandals.

Thanks. I guess my concern centers around this item that I saw on the Upload page: "There is a 20MB
limit to uploaded files". Does that mean the max size of a file is 20 MB, or does that mean I have a quota of 20 MB? If it's the latter, I'll need a way to clean up after myself or to request additional quota space.

I'm guessing it's per file.

It must be per file, since you dont have anything that is uploaded to TDN. I guess that TDN will get the file, save it, and forget who sent it. sadly, thats only a guess.

It's per file as far as I am aware. Of course, you shouldn't ever have to upload a 20 meg file in most circumstances!

Yeah, I'm not worried if it's 20 MB per file. I'm worried if it's 20 MB per user, which it sounds like it's not.

It's per file. Not per user.

If you want to change a file, just reupload to the same name. For instance, check out tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/Image:DeviceSamples1.4.zip.

As far as deleting contributions, it's in general against the wiki philosophy to permablast something. Adding a note that it's out of date or inaccurate is good, though. :)
