Animation of UV coordinates with lightwave

by AllynMcelrath · in Artist Corner · 02/24/2006 (8:11 pm) · 8 replies

Lightwave 8+ supports animated UV's.

But i cant for the life of me figure out how to set them up in the exporter. For what im doing, the animation of UV 's would do better than an IFL..

Anyone?

Dave?

Thanks ahead of time.

You may be able to code an extension for torque that takes a child node animation and transposes its X and Y transform anim for U V animation.

The exporter for max that were using in our custom art path supports this feature and its a really nice way to have some pretty advanced and varied animation that you couldn't easily do in code.

Im not a coder.

Im guessing that the lightwave exporter dosnt support UV animations (as only sence 8 was it in lightwave).

Im hoping im wrong and i just dont know how or cant set them up right.

Considering it doesn't say that it supports them on the gnometech page, I would guess that it does not currently support them.

Well, that was back before lightwave supported them (you couldnt make them before) so...mabye i should sugest it. Becouse for certin things, it would be less overhead (i think) than using IFL's.

Greetings!

The LightWave to DTS exporter does not currently support UV animations. I do not know if or when this will be added.

I'd recommend looking at the DTS Feature Chart on TDN for a list of what is and is not supported.
