Bells and whistles and no QC

I like the new site design, it's a good and innovative idea and all, but the chronic lack of QC is making using it oh so very difficult to use. In particular the broken 'unread posts' functionality. Without that the forums are virtually inaccessible.
Surely, GG, you realise how dependent we are on this site?

Unread posts:
I click on the 'Unread Forum Posts' and get 'Mark as read (0)' in both IE6 and Firefox 1.05.01. The page displays all posts beginning with the first forum I subsrcibe to and ending... I don't know where because I have a feeling the list is all posts ever made to those forums.
Watched forums: New...
Which watched post has the new post? The implementation seems to fluctuate between a list of all watched threads, and only the watched thread with posts. 'New' is useless in the first and superflous in the second. A different colored entry (or something) indication which posts got the 'New' post would make this tab useful.
Further, in FF the box does not resize.
Edit: Workflow steps...
1) I open a bookmarked GG What's New page. I automatically log on.
(I have both browsers - IE6 and Firefox 1.05.01 on Xp with SP2 - set to clear cache on exit). I've tried manually deleting cache and holding down ctrl in both. This does not seem to be a cache content issue.
2) I click on 'Unread Forum Posts'. The more option yeilds the same result.
I get a page full of entries and page no's going from 1 to 8 at the bottom, and 'Mark all as Read(0)'. I know I haven't been to the site in 24 hours, so more than 0 unread.

I use both IE6 at home (same loadout as you), as well as Firefox at work (you may want to upgrade to the latest firefox, 1.5+ I think), and never see this except for as stated above.

There is a small possibility that happens extremely occasionally where your marked as read cookie gets expired/corrupted, I see it roughly once per month through extended usage (hours and hours a day on the forums).I use both IE6 at home (same loadout as you), as well as Firefox at work (you may want to upgrade to the latest firefox, 1.5+ I think), and never see this except for as stated above.

Anyhow, I logged out and in again in both browsers and got the same result.
I deleted all cookies in both browsers, logged out and in again. Same result.
Edit : I'm an IT person so I'm all drivered up, OS patched, unspywared, software (NIS) and router firewalled. I get no messages, no script errors and the OS event logs are clean.

A corrupt cookie in both browsers at the same time? 1.05.01 is the latest Firefox. (It's not the 1.06 beta, but that's a beta).Anyhow, I logged out and in again in both browsers and got the same result.

Not sure how to help you in your particular problem, but this is a "cannot duplicate" on 2 of my own systems, and everyone at the GG office uses Firefox as well and we don't run into this. Only suggestion I can think of for further troubleshooting is to go ahead and mark all of those as read, and then watch for new posts and see if your functionality returns.
Edit: It appears that their internal versioning numbers and their external "marketing" versioning numbers are out of alignment, all I can say is that I don't see this on either browser :(

According to the main Firefox page, the latest version is 1.5.0.1. I originally had the "1.05" version myself, upgraded to this latest version, and it fixed quite a few issues (although this wasn't one of them). Ok, I marked them all as read and tried again.... 'Unread Posts' functionality is back. In both browsers.
The Watched Threads problems listed above persist however, but since they are not site breakers.... thank you. I'm much obliged.

The watched threads stuff does need some love, Rick is researching various ideas. No estimate on if/when any changes for now however.

Glad you got that part sorted (although as I first mentioned, this -may- come back very occasionally). The watched threads stuff does need some love, Rick is researching various ideas. No estimate on if/when any changes for now however.

I seem to recall that making sure you are logged in fixes this. At least that's the first thing I check now when something unusual happens.

I had the same problem for ages until I pressed the Mark all as read button, now all is good.

What OS, what browser (include version), and most specifically what is your expected result, what is your workflow steps that gives you something different would be very helpful.
