James Bond's new car NOT a BMW

I believe that even Mr. Tunnell would be tempted by this piece of perfection.

Aston Martin DB5 - Casino Royale 2006

The legendary DB5 will make a welcome reappearance in the new movie Casino Royale.

This is why men used to want to be Bond, James Bond.

I'd prefer a tropical island, nice female companionship and gin with martini having a choice but I heard some people just cant resist a pile of metal. Can't blame them...

I don't like the new Bond. He hates guns in RL. They just got him for looks.

The rock would of been a funny 007.

Nice I loved his role in Munich. I dont care for BMWs anyway and that DB5 is nice. Cant wait till the next few bonds start up.

Nice, I'm not sure about Craigs looks, might be a bit too Dundee like. However he does look cool in a cold killer kind of way in the one bond pic I have seen of him.

Two words for the Daniel Craig doubters... Layer Cake.

I have seen layer cake and I do think he can probably pull it off. I heard that they were planning on making a colder darker less tongue in cheeck james bond this time around. More Bourne Identity than what were used to.

Recent bond movies have been too Americanised and lost much of their britush charm. Can you mix cold and gritty with the funny side of bond. Funnily enough my favourite Bond film was On Her Majesties Secret Service, With George Lazenby taking on the roll of bond.

Probably because I was 6/7 years old and it was the first acion film and first James Bond film I ever saw. (I lived in Egypt from the ages of 6 -10). I still like that film in part because it doesn't have a happy ending. And you see a different side of Bond, a more caring bond that falls in love, gets married and who's wife is killed in a final bit of vengance from the bad guys. Maybe we will see more of this type of thing in the new film, in which case that may not be such a bad thing.

I thought Casino Royale was a comedy... Why remake it?

They are crazy for getting rid of Brosnan.

He made Bond more believable. I think this guy might make him cheesey again.

But I hold my tongue beyond that, he could be the best Bond yet.

He belive he doesn't look "Bondy" enough. He looks more like an evil villain than a Agent that would flirt with Moneypenny. One of my favourite actors will be the villain though... A danish one. No, he really is from Denmark. I am sure he will fit the role as a villain perfectly. It will be interesting to see the movie when it comes to the cinemas...

Daniel Craig isn't doing too good in the polls... lets just hope he can do a good enough job.

I think Clive Owen would have looked the part of bond, but has too mumbly a voice. He's pretty popular with the ladies and hollywood.
Here's a bondy pic of him in a casino. Looks a bit doctored to me but still.

If you watched Bourne Identity, you may recognise him as one of the hitmen.

Hey that guy did my taxes last month. Oh wait, that's not him. Bond? Are you crazy? Looks closer to the 40 year old virgin than a James Bond.

LOL And is that car really a 2006? Are you kidding me? I think you meant 1966. If I see 007 hunched over, putt putting around in this thing I'd say it's the end of the series for now. I almost laugh every time I scroll up to the pic of that car and picture a 2006 James Bond doing jumps, going fast, and shooting rockets out of that thing without oil leaking everywhere. lol Let's just be greatful it still has both bumpers on it. I say it's about time 007 upgraded to a Fararri.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me for some reason. And Anton, I think this is the second time I've come in and completley shit on your excitment about something new in the entertainment field. I feel bad because I think your a cool guy and it has nothing to do with you at all. I just think we have VERY different taste in certain things. You must be my complete opposite or something. Don't mind me. Loan officer looking 007 and rust bucket lovers please continue.

It shouldn't matter what his voice is like. If he's an actor shouldn't he be able to act like James Bond and change his voice, accent, and speech pattern up? If not, he must not be very good.

Well he was the top 5 choices in the polls. Daniel Craig came on the scene pretty late. Most of what there was to like in Bond got lost when it was americanised for a US market. Recent movies havent looked any different than any other action movie. A bond film should ultimately feel british and be fun, otherwise its probably time the series was put away for a bit.

BTW, last I heard, there is no longer a money penny either.

from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4337224.stm

Producer Michael G Wilson said the film-makers considered more than 200 actors from around the world over two years before settling on Craig.

Neither Q nor Moneypenny will appear, Mr Wilson added, but M will return. However, it was not confirmed whether Dame Judi Dench will play the spy chief.

Producers are now setting their sights on finding a female star to fill what Mr Campbell said would be the "best Bond girl part" ever.

Casino Royale will be an adaptation of author Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, in which the spy was introduced as a more youthful and cold character than he has been portrayed on film.

Again... Layer Cake. You have to watch it to understand why they chose Daniel Craig for Bond. He's Connery Bond not Comedy Bond all the way. He goes back to Bond not being a model, but a... how do you put it? A ***** chasing son of a ***** with a license to kill. Yeah, that's it.

I was wrong about the car. This is the 2006 version.

www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articles/images/aston_martin_dbs1.jpg
Personally, if given the choice, I'd take the first car above without a second thought. It's not about speed or strength, it's about style.

Clive Owen turned it down by the way. So did alot of actors who didn't like the idea of having their careers defined by being James Bond. Although, if you watch the new Pink Panther, he does play a 00 secret agent.

The new aston DB9? looks a bit over the top to me, like it's trying too hard to be a supercar. BTW, check out this Coupe version of the Mazda MX5 Miata. Looks like the older version of the above aston.

Shame they only sell the coupe version in limited numbers in Japan. Sorry about going off topic BTW.

Anton & Adrian: I knew you had to have made a mistake. That 2006 DB9 looks great in the pic above, but after looking at other angles on the net, it still looks very much luxury and humble. It just looks like a regular car. I guess that's the whole point behind it though. Strange that in this pic it looks close to a supercar body style but in others it doesn't.

lol That Miyata looks like a Power Wheels. Girls love driving them though, so I guess they serve a purpose in this world.

To be fair, I've never heard of the guy so I'll keep an opened mind about him. If you say he's cool Anton then I believe you even though our taste are so different. I'll have a chat with you after we've both seen the film, how's that?

Hehe, you would be surprised, more guys race miata's than corvettes. And in the top 20 C class SCCA nationals, 15 of the cars were miatas. Not only are they inexpensive and fun, they are great little RWD sports cars. And a proper simple RWD sports car with full 50/50 weight distribution is a pretty rare thing these days.

You can even drop a 5L V8 straight in there, only then you lose the perfect balance.
