Am I ready

I was wondering about how hard is using the torque game engine to use? I know how to model 3D and a bit of programming... will it be easy fo me to use the torque game engine?

also the 2nd book, Advanced 3D Game Programming All-In-One focuses more on torque script than the 1st.
side note: at amazon if you buy the 2nd and 1st together you get a discount... but not if you get the 1st and 2nd (if you select the 2nd book it gives you the option to buy the 1st with it, but not the other way around)

Id say pick up the book, and if you can follow along you should be able to pick it up. be warned the book might be hard to follow at first, ive done programming in several engines and just the way its written is taking me longer than expected to pick it up.also the 2nd book, Advanced 3D Game Programming All-In-One focuses more on torque script than the 1st.

I actually picked the first book and it offered the second book for about a 20% discount at amazon.
I bought both.
Edit to add: This software (forum) doesn't allow quoting an idevidule? ok.

Yes, you have to have art assets in your game, otherwise there would be nothing to interact with.

Depends on the game, and the developer.Yes, you have to have art assets in your game, otherwise there would be nothing to interact with.

If you already know how to model, then you'll be designing your own levels and chucking in animated objects in a matter of days, possibly less if you know a bit of programming.
The engine comes with a basic fps start up kit as well as a racing kit to help you on your way.
Download the demo, it's fully functional as far as level / world, gui, player editing and creation. If you like what you see in the demo then buy it. If not there are more simplistic engines out there which are not as powerful but easier to use.
