I am a senior in high school and I am very passionate towards video games. I am taking a class called senior projects and in this class we have to research a carreer that we would like to persue and then we have to do some job shadowing in this field. I need mentoring in the video game design carreer field. I am in some serious need of a mentor. If anybody is interested in helping me out with this please contact me at damainplaya559@yahoo.com, my name is Justin. Thank you for taking an interest.

I'm not looking to get payed and Im not trying to design games. I am taking a high school class and in this class I have to do job shadowing to pass. This is a required class to graduate. I am not looking for a job, just 15 hours of job shadowing.

Justin, It might help if you state your location in your profile. So people know where you are from.

What you need is an unpaid internship under a designer in a studio.

Job shadowing normally consists of going to work with someone and following them around all day observing their job and asking questions about the job. Typically you have to write up a report of some kind at the end. The whole point of them is to see if that career really does interest you or not.
Internships are a little different in that you normally have tasks in the company that you are responsible for, you just aren't getting paid. The whole point of them is to gain experience in an industry, make contancts, and the company gets inexpensive labor in return.

Getting an internship for job shadowing seems a bit like using a 20 pound sledge to drive a nail to me. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be good for it you, it just seems like overkill at the moment.Job shadowing normally consists of going to work with someone and following them around all day observing their job and asking questions about the job. I guess I don't really need the internship, I just need the job shadowing, I do have to write a report at the end of the class. It's a ten page paper and the job shadowing is a big part. I was thinking the intership would be better later on maybe during the summer.

Now I'm not too sure where Fresno is, but being in Cali you should be able to just throw a dart at a map and find a nearby city with a studio in it.

Ouch, ten pages! Man, when I was in high school all we had was a single sheet form with the basics that needed be filled. Pay, normal day to day routine, a few specific questions, etc, etc.Now I'm not too sure where Fresno is, but being in Cali you should be able to just throw a dart at a map and find a nearby city with a studio in it.

Fresno is located in the valley. Finding a studio isn't really the problem it's finding a person that will give me the time I need, because game designers are so busy. If any of you guys know somebody that would be interested in helping me I would really appreciate their contact info.
