Synapse or TSE or both?

by Nate Nielsen · in General Discussion · 02/11/2006 (8:28 am) · 3 replies

I need your adivce!

I am thinking of investing in Synapse Lighting, but if TSE is going to render that obsolete, it would seem more adventageous to just purchase TSE and tinker with it.

Obviously Synapse is a bit more mature right now in terms of stability for development, but TSE will obviously contain much more in the area of effects possible.

I would probably be satisfied with just additional lighting effects right now, and getting TSE a little bit later after it is fleshed out a bit more.

I know I will eventually be geting TSE, so the question is, would it make sense to have both - Synapse now, and TSE later? Or can I do everything Synapse does now in TSE and save $50 to put towards art perhaps?

Thanks-

If I remember correctly, which I'm not sure, TSE will have its own lighting pack, so I guess it cant do what Synpase TLK can do now, but again, I'm not sure.

Here's my 2 cents worth,

If you're gonna buy TSE eventually you may as well get the TLK. It's only $50 and brings TGE to a much higher level. To be completely honest, for the type of game i'm making, I wouldn't even bother using TGE if it weren't for the lighting pack.

As you said, you're gonna wait for TSE to develop a little further before you seriously consider purchasing it, so in the meantime don't deny yourself of the wonders of TLK.

Every child in this world deserves the right to basic necessities such as food, water, education just as every game developer deserves the right to have dynamic lighting, improved shadows, decal projectors.

Doom Ki113r lol :)

the TLK is supposed to be upgraded for TSE. It should be a stand alone product but we don't know that 100% yet. I don't think it should be free I want to pay for a good kit with support.

Edit: Doom killer was a sneek peek video of the TSE lighting kit...
