This thread is for people to post their progress in attempting to become a member of the Thousander Club :)
I hope the rest of you will post your current running hour total here too.
I've been working on The Funk, and a new game which is yet to be announced. I have a full time job and a full time girlfriend.
My current running total for 2006 is 160 hours, as of right now ... Feb 6, 2006 3pm EST

though I know i'm well over 1000 hrs in that regard, i have only about 500hrs accrued towards game-related development.
it'll be good to keep track of this stuff more closely :)

I like the idea of a thousanders club, but my forte is development and design, not graphics. though I know i'm well over 1000 hrs in that regard, i have only about 500hrs accrued towards game-related development.

I hope so Chris! maybe i can count my dreams too?

@Chris. Of course that time counts. I would never be able to finish reading a book without that time.

@Jason. Sorry if it sounded like it was graphics-specific. It applies to whatever you want it to, whatever you consider to be actively working on game development in 2006. So far, the numbers have turned out to be less important than the fact that the hours we have counted are turning out to be very productive and effective.@Chris. Of course that time counts. I would never be able to finish reading a book without that time.

Lol. I was kidding guys. I don't count thinking time as dev. I only count time when Im being productive... ie. actually coding and not typing at you weirdos.

@ James and Chris. So did I catch that? Are you officially in? Let me know if you want me to post it on my site occasionally -- I'll be continuing to do it every Monday.

But had 'much busyness' so far this year... approx. 150 hours total.

Usually I work full time on my projects, between 7-12hrs a day, 5 days a week. But had 'much busyness' so far this year... approx. 150 hours total.

I generally work about 8 hours a day. 1000 hours at 8 hours a day works out at 125 days. I don't work weekends, so excluding those, 125 days is 25 weeks. Thats roughly 6 months. Now, granted, I dont spend every day of every week on one project, so thats a little skewed.
Let's assume then that I'm someone with a full time job and I can only spend four hours a weeknight on my pet project. Since I am now making things up, I will also make up a wife and 5 kids that keep me busy at weekends. Consequentially I can only spend about 2 hours on Saturday and another 2 on Sunday I can't work on the project at all. That makes the 1000 hours take 250 days, which works out at just under 42 weeks. Still got 10 weeks to spare!
It will be interesting to find out whether reality supports the maths.
I am far too lazy to keep track of hours when I don't have to, but just so that I contribute something useful other then idle banter here is an Excel spreadsheet that I use for a time sheet. You might want to remove the payment tracking stuff for this, but its simple: put the date/time you start work in the Clock On column, the date/time you stop work in the Clock Off column. It calculates the hours automatically. If you want a description you can stick that in too. Note that although the spreadsheet is protected, there is no password so you can unprotect it to edit it. I just protect it so that I dont accidentally trash something without noticing.

1000 hours. My initial reaction was "1000 hours is nothing" ... so ... lets get the calculator out and see if I'm just being melodramatic ...I generally work about 8 hours a day. 1000 hours at 8 hours a day works out at 125 days. I don't work weekends, so excluding those, 125 days is 25 weeks. Thats roughly 6 months. Now, granted, I dont spend every day of every week on one project, so thats a little skewed.

Scott - I don't think I would have created a thread on the topic and reported my hours if I wasn't. ;)
Christian - I think it only counts for time put in this year.

Tom - You are pretty much right. I calculated what I would reach if I continued at the pace I am, and it's somewhere around 1600, mind you I can't dev for 8 hours a day. I dev roughly 4 a day and squeeze 30 hours out of the odd weekend.Scott - I don't think I would have created a thread on the topic and reported my hours if I wasn't. ;)

Ari - It only counts for hours put in for 2006... and seeing as there are only 920 or so hours so far this year, I doubt you have over 1000 ;)If you guys want to set up a running total for last year Im probably in the 2Thousander club :P

I'm gonna keep track of the total of everyone, too.
