Ok, what I want to know, Is this possible? Here's what i'm thinking about.
Ok, everyone just loves rpg combat don't they? You click on the enemy, maybe push A, then the computer simulates the turns, damages, dodges, ect. You may even click a heal spell, eat food, ect. Maybe some people out there like this, but I find it quite boring. Some times when i get hit by something and my charactor sits there absorbing damage, I think this: In real life, I could have tried to dodge that, couldn't I? Sure, unless your reflex are dead, you could at least attempt. What i'm thinking is why not design a whole new type of combat? You would have 4 keys as basic dodges. Duck, roll, strafe, and jump. Then you would have run, ect. Then the mouse would control the sword. Your opponent attacks with an unique attack, because they're controlling it with their mouse. You use one of the dodges to dodge it, or use your own mouse to parry the blow. You could also get advanced. Maybe when you hold "shift" it goes into "thrust" style. While holding shift, your charactor will only stab. Then slice would be without shift. I think this would be a very fun battle. You and your opponent thinking and able to make moves that the other person couldn't easily think of. Post your thoughts, and if there is a game like this, point it out :). I've played games like prince of persia, which is fun, but you can't control a sword with the mouse. But anyways, I think this would be fun. If this is the wrong forum, i'm sorry. :P

However, the learning curve is just too tough to reach an adept control your swordarm with the mouse. I think that to really work, this kind of interface will have to wait for the Revolution controller to come along.

Die by the Sword was a pioneer of innovating the swordfight interface. Full mouse control etc., mostly how you describe it.However, the learning curve is just too tough to reach an adept control your swordarm with the mouse.
