There is no book available. Have you looked at TDN's platformer, Tetris, and Strategy tutorials as well as the other resources available for T2D? There's some fantastic stuff out there that could be easily used for a RPG. And they are available to T2D licensees.

Most of the links at http://tdn.garagegames.com/wiki/Torque_2D are broken -- anyone know where there are good T2D resources?

Did you try the platformer, tetris style or RTS sections?

The links aren't broken, TDN is a wiki. In a wiki you create a link to a document, then you can click that link and create that document... community driven documents (as well as the developers). That way anyone can add documents and fix errors/ update for newer versions.

The Platformer, Tetris, and Strategy one's should be complete, as well as most of the upper section. In fact the only area where there are a lot of tutorials to be done still is the genre tutorials, mainly because you have to create a mini-game to then create a tutorial on it. My Strategy tutorial is roughly 200+ pages and took me a good deal of time, full-time docing and creating a game for it even... the Platformer and Tetris tutorials are great thinking.

What Matt said *and* AFAIK you don't have access to the T2D specific stuff if you don't own T2D.

Hopefully your problem with buying the wrong engine will be solved soon ;)
