DTS or DIF for Interiors that move?

Intro
------
I'm currently using Quark v6.3 for my Interiors, but also looking into using some other software like 3D World Studio. For my DTS objects I'm using Milkshape 1.7. I do own an older version of 3D Studio Max, v6, that I might start to use again. The reason I started using Milkshape and Quark was cause of Ken Finney's first book detailing how to make interiors and objects setup for Torque.
What I'm looking to do now is make a mobile interior. In Quark, I started making a shuttle, large enough to walk through. I would eventually like to fill it up with interactive objects and NPCs. Quark does not seem very user friendly for making multi-shape interiors that connect via doorways, portals, etc. The mission area for these shuttles, there will be more than 1, will be rather small. I just want to be able to enter and exit them and view them landing and taking off from outside. Eventually, I'd like to add hangers/hi-bays to move them in and out of.
Question
-------------
My question is:
Should I try and stick to one program to make both the shuttle and it's internal objects?
a. No: then should I switch to 3D world Studio to make the shuttle or something other than Quark?
b. Yes: then is 3DSMax v6 a good choice for this, or what would be a better choice?
