Pipes and Halfpipes

by technostick · in Marble Blast · 01/26/2006 (10:47 am) · 8 replies

I've been noticing something very annoying with the built-in pipes & halfpipes in the interiors/parts folder. If you go down inside a vertical open-ended pipe, and stick to the "wall", often times you will get stuck at the bottom of the pipe. When that happens, the clock keeps running, but the marble cannot be moved; even its spin can not be changed. Is that because of the .dif files, or is it a MarbleBlast bug? (I have MGB.)

If it is a .dif problem, can someone with Quark make some pipes and halfpipes which don't have that problem, and email them to secret_1123581321@yahoo.com?

Thanks!

We were aware of the sticking issue to walls when falling, but had not seen an issue with being unable to move once you reach the bottom of the wall... my recommendations would be to put the pipes at a very slight angle in order to avoid the weird sticking effect that can occur against vertical surfaces while falling.

I tried that, but the pipes and halfpipes still stick...

It seems to be something about speed - going down slowly seems to be OK.

Hmm...
Just a guess:gap in the geometry?

Well, the marble doesn't actually fall through... It just stops.

Sometimes, if youre going slow enough, you can jump to get unstuck.
