Should water show in the demo?

by Harvey Greensall · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 01/19/2006 (4:13 am) · 5 replies

Hi all.

I've bought and compiled the shader engine..Run the demo and all looks great, apart from there doesn't appear to be any reflective water outside...or any water....just the fog that would be on the surface. Anybody else had this problem? If there isn't any water there, how do I use it? I've had no problems with water blocks in TGE...

Also, I just wanted to ask. I'm sure this is obvious, but I'll fire away anyhow. If we carry on developing our game using TGE, will it be possible just before release to port it to TSE and then release it? We only wan't the water reflections, and any benefits the terrain tools could give.

Thanks guys,

Harvey

Totally different things. What card are you using in both cases?

Yuppers. But then TSE have to be ready, as well.. which it is not, right now.

Good luck with your game!

Thanks Stefan.

I'm using ATI Radion x700. I thought there may be an issue as it's a PCI Express motherboard and Card... I'll try it out on another PC.

Yeah, We'll have to see what happens with TSE. We're developing the game on TGE, and would love to have reflective water, nothing else from the shader engine, just reflective water...But, we'll be at release stage before the summer and I wouldn't think TSE will be ready by then I suppose. Will look forward to using it in the future though.

Thanks for your help

Actually i think that it's just that the demo mission is broken. The new water didn't get added to TSE until after that demo was released and i don't think it was updated.

Oh... see this post.

Yea the X700 should have SM 2.0 support.
