Mr. Finney,
Are you out there? Do you read these posts? I just recently purchased your book 3D Game Programming All-In-One within the last two months, for some quick information about the Torque Game Engine.
I understand you have another book Advanced 3D Game Programming All-In-One on the market.
What are the differences between the two? What do you cover in the "Advanced.." book that you don't coveer in the first book?

I'm not Ken, and this is a fairly old thread, but if you're still needing an answer, here goes:
In general, the second book has more scripting examples and fewer tools examples. So the advanced book focuses a lot more on Torque than the first book. Some of the script examples include AI/Bots, swarming behavior, damage tracking, player/object skin switching, advanced triggers, database interaction for persistant virtual worlds and water damage/breathing effects. Interface/world content includes a pretty good set of examples for torque enviroment effects and entities like fxFoliage, believable water, real-world terrain generation, etc. There is also some new info about modeling and building interiors.
Well, that's the advanced book in a nutshell. It's a good book and a useful reference. But if you're still working through the first book, you may not be quite ready for the advanced one yet. But it's definitely worth getting.
Also, if your budget allows, you might consider getting Ed Maurina's upcoming Torque book. And I think Jeff Tunnell is working on one as well. I'm looking forward to both of those.
Good luck,
Aaron E.
