Creating Trealer or demo

by Spider_Man · in General Discussion · 12/30/2005 (1:10 pm) · 19 replies

Hi every one,
i tried many of 3d demo (trailer) creating tools with no use because i'm not a programmer or because no any tutorial available for what i found.
But i'm in kwith you guys wish to know if this engine can help me to produce demo or trailer for comercial use (just like the trailers on TV channels). because most people using the opengl to create demo adding the 3d models and some sprites with many particles.

How possible for me to create a full demo or trailer (Add models, music , sound effect, and particle effects).
and if possibel could it be an exutable file to play lonly without need any special player ?

is there any demo that i can see or download to check ?

in the same way if this all is possible in here , is there any special tutorials or books even offered books please ?

Note: i wish to be able to create jdemos just like the below style or way:

http://www.scene.org/file.php?id=207906

*What* engine? You're posting in the development community discussions so it could be any engine.
Are you talking about Torque?

What are you doing this demo for? TGE sure could be useful, I guess.. But you will have to be a bit more specific with your needs. "Many" particles, how many? TGE doesn't handle huge amount of particles very well.

Yes i'm talking about this Torque engine

i just want to be able to create a proff demo
for exmple : add one box (model) and make a path for the camera around it
then make zoom in - out ... etc ..
though this animation i would all some animated text titles

and add many particles for the work it self
(explusions, fire tail, flaming, stars, ...etc)

m looking for.

Have you checked the GarageGames website and the multiple Torque Demos, yet? :p
Checked LORE? Marble Blast? Tribes II?

Should give you a good array of examples.

Sorry ... i think u didn't get what i'm looking for.

i don't want to create a demo for a game to play the game for period time only.

All i want is just to create a stand alone demo just like movie.
so how possible to compose my models, comtrol camera on path camera, add zoom , add particle effect.

and finnaly i must have a movie to play just like what we seen always on TV for channels representative.

Spider man-

if youre not a programmer torque's probably not for you.

"i tried many of 3d demo (trailer) creating tools "

are you talking about 3d modeling packages? if so, torque is far from it.

No , i found many software which helps to create 3d demo ...

one of them is demopaja. it let you add your models and create a demo even u r not a programmer.

and you sayd "if youre not a programmer torque's probably not for you" does it means there is no any tutorials or people around me for help or assistance pfroviding csripts or build what i'm looking for ?

There are tonnes of tutorials, resources, examples etc, but to make your trailer demo, you're looking at doing some scripting. Setting up the animations, spawning the characters etc.

Torque comes complete with a really cool mission editor, but unless you're ready for some scripting work to tie in all of the triggers, animations, cameras etc.. you're looking at the wrong engine.

If you're not worried about doing some scripting and you have the time to learn what can be done using the stock Torque engine, then Torque might just be what you need.

But I wouldn't like to try to make a trailer style demo using Torque, lots of cut scenes, explosions, cool camera angles... and the voice over guy "It was a time for Heros!..." delivering a cool erm.. voice over. It's possible, just not easy.

At the end of the day, Torque is a game engine.

Check out the Warzone demo, it's kindof cut-sceney ;-)

You asked for an engine and that's what I responded for.
If you want a modelling package that can handle making cut-scenes, then that's not an engine.

And finally, you could use Torque to setup cameras and everything else and then let it roll, like a demo.

@Spider Man

I think that you should use the free non-commercial Unreal 2 engine for your demo. I know what you are talking about making and I don't think torque is the right choice for you. Unreal 2 has an entire cinematic editor that you can use without knowing how to program or script. If I were you, I would go to www.unrealtechnology.com/html/technology/ue2.shtml and check it out. You can make in game movies and then convert them to DivX. I strongly suggest that you NOT use torque for this if you do not want to script. Torque is FAR easier to use than Unreal 2 IF you know how to script, but not if you don't. You will just get frustrated and waste yours and everyone else's time using torque until you are proficient at scripting. That's my opinion.

Thanks alot Anton Bursch...

i'm looking to that engine now but i think it's too expensive for me to buy it.

Anyways i would be so happy to start learn TGE scripting if there is a good way , i'm able to learn it from A to Z steps if any chance.

@Spiderman

Actually Unreal 2 Runtime is free for non-commercial use. They call it the Demo version, but it's the whole thing. Here's the download: www.unrealtechnology.com/html/runtime/demo.shtml

I you want to make world class demos, you could use the tool werkzeug1 brought you by the german demo group Farbrausch a.k.a the.produkkt . (download from http://www.theprodukkt.com )

Do you know the.popular? (download from http://www.farb-rausch.com/), one of the best demos ever!
Almost any demo by this group is made with werkzeug1.

It is really outstanding as it uses procedural texture generation with hardware shader support.
Instead of scripting it uses some form of graphically connecting dozens of tiny modules.

Oh yes.,,.. i have werkzeug1 and the demo paja,..

but honestly there is no such enough tutorials abot them... i really love the popular demo , and i wish to find who can teach me the use of that and i really would pay also.

Many thanks for your very very kindly attension

If you want to make a movie like demo or trailer then use 3dsmax or something for it .
The cameras ,effects , lights and more are far easier to use and you get better effects .

I know that thanks .. but those engines make alot of perfect effects easly without any complixty, with 3d max you need to use many plugins and that videopost .. and ehat ever you do will be poor if you compair with those engines especially the powerful of relity skins and the time of rendering..

many thanks for your advice
