Really new... really basic question

I want to be able to view the map in the editor without the fog effect as you move up higher. Is this something that can easily be done? And is there a reason this fog effect is there? My eyes are bleeding from reading so much and my mind is spinning trying to break my World of Warcraft addiction.

The ultimate goal is some sort of MMORPG, with a large world broken into zones. I am reading alot on the forums but right now it is all to advanced. What are some things to look out for and where should I start?

All I want to do right now is maybe just create a little starter zone to play and splash around in. =)

Hit F11 then F3 and you'll see the "sky" in the missiojn group. Select it, then below you can adjust the 'visibility' and 'fog' distance. The visibilty is the draw distance of the world from the camera (you). Hope that helps..

If you set the view distance too high, things will crash and misbehave. Long view distance comes at a price in speed and memory. :)

Yeah I found that out. I just wanted to do it for editing but it is too risky :P

I have used a view distance of 2000 to great success as long as the scene is not too complex.

Distances up to about 2500 or 3000 work OK, and if you up the FrameAllocator size you can go further, but eventually you hit diminishing returns.

I've run 3k with good success while worldbuilding/tweaking/editing.
AMD 2400+ 2.0GHZ, 1Gig RAM, ATI 9600....nothing fancy.
