Getting TSE from WinCVS

by Jonathon Stevens · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 12/18/2005 (8:35 pm) · 14 replies

Friends,

I've never used CVS before, so am not familiar with it's setup. Is there a post somewhere that describes how to use the NEW version 2.0.2 of WinCVS to get TSE? The current one on TSE's download page is for version 1.2 or some such and all the dialog boxes are different now.

Thanks,

I tried it with the latest version of WinCVS and when you have it configured it still doesn't work. Can't remember the error, but the feeling I got was that the CVS server at GG doesn't support the "login" command as it is on the latest version of the CVS client. I downloaded the old client version from GG and it worked fine. I suggest you do the same to avoid further headaches. You can install it in a new directory and keep the v2 version for other CVS work.

Dave.

Use the getting started Private TSE forum. Edit your subscriptions.

I have been using the wincvs version 1.3 for about 4 months now without any hassles to obtain the latest updates. Today, when I tried to update the content (routinely), I received the following error message:

cvs -z5 update (in directory C:\tse)
Fatal error, aborting.
cvs [update aborted]: GG database connect failed: Access denied for user 'cvs'@'216.116.32.50' to database 'garagegames'

***** CVS exited normally with code 1 *****

Why would my access be denied all of a sudden? Absolutely nothing has changed!

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

I've been getting this error for a couple of days now. It worked a couple of days ago but not now.

I'm getting exact the same error and my set up worked before and nothing has changed.

Have GG accidently locked access to the TSE database for webaccess or something like that?

I'm getting this error too. I tried to grab TSE MS3 but no joy! Are they block access or something?

They said a while back they were going to discontinue the usage of cvs.
I wonder if this is the case.

Edit:
the biggest problem with no cvs
is that now when they do a fix, you have to wait for a packaged release to get it.
or maybe a patch file if your lucky.

another downer is no more auto merge via cvs update.

It's broken at the moment as part of our server updates--being worked on.

Ok, it's working internally now--can someone confirm outside our local network please?

Thanks to Rick, and thanks for the patience!

Ok, I retried to update my TSE and it appears to be back to normal working order:

.
.
cvs server: Updating tools/zipCleanser
cvs server: Updating vc6
cvs server: Updating vc7

***** CVS exited normally with code 0 *****

Thanks Stephen.
