Making a semi transparant texture? (muzzleflash, particles etc.)

Hello everyone, sorry to bother you all with a question that people seem to have figured out the solution to already but I just can't make it work.

I've read: Transparency in DTS Shapes, Among Other Things... and Different textures per face amongst others and tried folowing them to the letter but still no luck, can someone please have a look at my ".png" and ".blend" and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Click here to go to URL

Under the texture buttons(F6) select "image" in the texture type pulldown menu. You can most likely leave the settings for all the new options that come up in their default state -- that worked for me. Here is a screenshot of the buttons window:

Fantastic!. I must have already had that set in my file when I did that first set of instructions you linked to above. I didn't realize it was something that you had to manually set.

Don't forget to do a duplicate of your plane (in edit mode) and flip the normal if you want to see the flash from both sides.
