Age of Cannon Balls

So im imagining a game which mixes the city building of an age of empire game with the old skoool game of firing cannon balls at your oponent. So the idea is that u live in a fantasy world where ur tribe has to build up from a small village to a great city. To do that u have to do stuff like trade / harvest / create adventures etc... As u, the city mayor/town elder/etc.. get more moneies u can build stuff like walls, windmills etc.. Eventually the idea is that hordes of undead/baddies/pirates invade u and u have to setup cannons at strategic locations to blast them as they invade. Aslo u have a small army u can lead around too.

So what do u think?

Cannon and horde normally don't mix. Because they take so long to reload you would get overrun. Cannon normal in warfare provide a tactical function. Destroying key units and positions. But it does sound like something you could whip up in T2D if you wanted a simple splat game.

You coud use "grapeshot cannonballs", these are canisters full of ball bearings they can rip 5-10 people up if fired at them at close range, you could make it so you could switch cannon shot and also you could add mortars

i would look at some historical books first to get it right
