Adventure games in T2D

How possible or rather viable will it be to do an adventure style games in T2D? ala Day of the Tenticle etc.
I am thinking that this is actually a big niche market ( lots of irony there ).
The underground adventure gaming scene is quite big and it seems like its growing.
Just wondering ;)

I would offer my personal support to anyone attempting and generating a framework over T2D to do a "Day of the Tenticle" style adventure. I grew up playing adventure games where 90% of the fun was created in my mind rather than on screen. I miss those days and I miss those games.

I'd love to see a framework of this type. I also grew up playing such games - loads of fun. (Just recently replayed Maniac Mansion and was very impressed that it was still a fun and open-ended game - more open-ended than most.)

DOTT, Beneath A Steal Sky, Space Quest/s Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones, Monkey Island. Those WHERE awesome wherent they.
You guys might just inspire me enough to try and do something like that, after all you did provide the tools ;)
Seriously, I have tried various "engines" to try and re create those types of games. I am a Flash Developer by trade and I am fortunate enough to do Flash games and interactive stuff for a living. I tried doing it in Flash and although possible there is a lot of "tricks" in trying to implement this. Also saving, loading, and various ideas I have that goes along with my story will simply not get done to where I will be satisfied with the end result if I use Flash.
I tried AGS/SCUMM/Wintermute etc. not what I'm looking for. I want to do Old school but have a modern feel to it, a kind of richness.
My story is quite fun and I think quite unique ( well I started talking about it and coleuges at work where in stitches laughing at some scenarios I explained ) so I would like to do it right. I might not start of with my idea but builing something with some of the interactions might be a good start.
Also my other thread about 2D games vs 3D. My 2D adventure wil just NOT WORK in 3D I tried. Loses something... maybe the art I dont know what it is, but I was very glad T2D is here.
I might buy myself a little Xmas pressie, although there is also T Constructor....aarrrgg.
MELV what I REALLY need is a time stopping machine like you seem to have. Where do you get all the time?

*ahem*...I am leading a project to make such a game...Expect to hear the first official announcement/synopsis in a plan within the next week or so. Even though the actual production has just started (we've been in pre-production for a few months now), everything is going along at a promising rate. Even so, we expect to be working on the game for about another year. As of right now, we aren't worried too much about marketing, but we do plan on creating a high-quality product to submit to next year's IGF student presentation. You won't be dissapointed.

While I think that the popularity among adventure gamers is huge, many of them are more entertained by free games available on AGS and such. I'm not sure about a market. But then I'm also not a market strategist.
