Can Atlas be wrapped in a sphere ?

It would be nice if Atlas could be wrapped in a sphere to represent planets, can it be done or only plain terrain ??
I know you get the source and can do whatever you want but i was meaning without messing too much with Atlas sources.

That's probably a significant bit of messing with Atlas code in order to do that. But with a bit of creativity, I don't see why you'd really need spherical terrain, unless you're doing something that requires the curvature and terrain to both be visible?

Imagine that you are in your space ship and you see a distant spot in the space, as you approach the spot you see it is a planet. At the end you land in the planet wich is represented by a sperical wrapped Atlas terrain and all the process has been seamless.
I'm not really doing such a thing but i think it could be really nice.

Not out of box, but it might be someday.

I don' t how how they did it in Jump to Lightspeed but in orbit around tatooine you could see canyons and surface features
from orbit that appeared shaded. Could of been a normal map.

There is somebody trying to do just that with TSE in IRC... I can't remember his name. Doing a space sim...

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the biggest change have to come from the physics part of the engine? Otherwise seems to me that you would fall right off the planet.

I do not think physics would be the hardest part. You could probrally just use a physical zone and do some sort of pull at the center of the planet.
