by Joy Box · in Torque Game Engine · 11/30/2005 (4:19 pm) · 6 replies

I want to make a race game soi want to make the terrain large.
but there are many problem when enlarging the terrain(like the texture deforming) soi want to put multy terrain with a normal size(i.e good texture).

i want to ask if there is any way to put more than one terrain by the editor int the same level..
Note:i use the terrain with no tile proberties.

and if it's possible.how cancan i use the tranformation and rotation info from the terrain (which are not used) to change the terrain placein the world.

There was a project or two in progress out there that were working on adding multi-terrain paging for TGE, though I don't know if the project is still in the works or not. Run a search on GORPE (spelling?). If there is another way, I haven't figured it out yet.

The only thing I know of still available is here www.fractalscape.org/TorqueTerrain, but note that it is based on an older version of TGE so you might need to put in some work to get it working with TGE1.4

There are a lot of topics about this in the forum (mostly old), just do a search for "TerrainManager"

This would be an interesting idea, having multiple terrains that is...

imagine an inverted terrain above the player... could make for some very nice underground type vast cave missions. I think Magic Carpet did this once. Looked freaky.
