1.4 and feeds.feedburner.com

I noticed that when i start TorqueDemo it automatically wants to connect to feeds.feedburner.com. Why is that ? I hope its not some advertising link or something. How do I remove this from the source code ?

I am guessing that this is just to get the RSS feed on the main page of the GUI. You can use it to insert your own feeds.

You can disable the feed in the options menu.

You can feel free to disable the RSS. The cool thing about RSS is that we only broadcast it, and users need to "tune" it in. If you disable it though, you will potentially miss out on new content, free content, etc.

We are going to start using RSS more and more to let people know what is going in in the TGE community. Having the RSS feeds in the demo allows us to tell people when new content, upgrades, etc. happen for the engine. The RSS feeds start at GG and are routed through Feedburner so we can tell how many times they are accessed. You can feel free to disable the RSS. Just a thought, but we could use this RSS feed to potentialy send updates to our games?...couldnt we?

Hopefully this isn't indicative of the quality of changes that I can expect to find in the rest of 1.4. (Although the second thing I noticed is that I'll have to abandon the Torque Build Environment that I spent nearly a year getting used to.)

I only noticed the RSS feeds in TGE1.4 by their absence, and the broken Feedburner RSS. Actually, after a several month break from using 1.3, this was the very first thing I noticed when running 1.4 for the first time.Hopefully this isn't indicative of the quality of changes that I can expect to find in the rest of 1.4. Nobody is forcing you to abandon TBE. You can make it work for yourself. Your choice of IDE is up to you. It is just that we have decided not to supply the solution to the TBE espcially in light of the free Micrsoft offering.

I hope to make it through another year without discovering what RSS is. So please stop talking about it! :)tone
