GG loading logo

I dont remember reading anywhere that the that main gg picture had to be one the to advertise the engine. I was wondering if I could change it so it would fit the style of my game, because the white background then all dark into the game is a pretty big contrast. I would like an employee to see if something like this;

is allowed? It still says the saying, and made with Torque. Does that little G have to be in it somewhee for me to be able to do this?
If this is not allowed then I wil keep the orginal logo.
ps. I thought I could do this because EA usually has different loading screen logos for different games.
Take care!

Hey, GG, are we allowed to combine logos? Do we have to have the GG logo all by itself? Could I put mine on the same screen as yours?

Yeah, I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Mine is a medeival strategy game, and it would look much better if I adjusted the style of the logo. Of course, my logo is a big, yellow duck, so that kind of defeats the purpose.Hey, GG, are we allowed to combine logos? Do we have to have the GG logo all by itself? According to this thread, you're not required to display their logo at all. So.... It's probably not an issue since it's not defaming them or anything.
here's what i use currently.
::edit:: apparently it used to be optional to displayt their logo.. but it seems they changed that at some point.....

We'll there is two sections that cover this topic:
'the Engine' refering to by section 1 "source code shipped on hard media or downloadable from the Licensor website". Therefore, if you us any code that you downloaded or got from you CD then you can't remove any copyright's or images and what not. So if you are using the default files for you GUI and what not, you 'not' allowed to remove them unless you code your own using the TorqueScript created functions.
So, somewhere you require to have a credit system of some sort that only has the link 'www.garagegames.com' and 'This game powered by the Torque Game Engine'. You are not required to put it on your main page only in your credits section (which you have to make).
Summary:
-If you are using the given UI system (the TorqueScript) you have to learn the initial GarageGames logo and so on.
-You HAVE to create a credit system that will give the GG link and power by TGE line.
Other than that you can do whatever you want, unless they change the EULA again. :D

Did you even READ the EULA when you purchased the engine? :)We'll there is two sections that cover this topic:
Quote:3(c)(v) [Licensee may not] remove or alter any trademark, logo, copyright or other proprietary notices, legends, symbols or labels in the Engine.

All kinds of stuff can be said about it, but I'll stick w/ the EULA.
@Dylan: Here's my logo... "duck" was my youngest son's first word. =)

Barring the conversation on the thread, the EULA for TGE clearly states:Quote:
b) Licensee agrees to display a full screen Torque Game Engine logo in the start up sequence of any game created and released with the Engine.
(c) Licensee agrees to include in the "About" box or in the credits screen: (i) a link to www.garagegames.com, and (ii) the wording "This game powered by the Torque Game Engine."

Yeah, i bought my license in 2002... so the EULA i remember reading wasn't quite the same. I changed' the background on mine cause it was blinding when on loadup. Then i decided to just disable it all together while i'm developing. In their logo kit they include the logos with transparent backgrounds.... so i used that. i wonder if my example is in violation of "modification" since i didn't touch the actual logo...

love that little duck!
@everyone else
Ok it says in the EULA that they must have the logo at start up, can I simply add the little G logo in the corner of image above? Is that valid?
Im kind of confused because no one said yes or no? Sorry if I sound silly, but im so confused, I wish an employee could comment, and clear this up ^_^

If you do have to have the GG logo in the original form... I say that you should pull one of those cool transitions that movies do sometimes. Your screenshot looks kick ass by the way! Sweet! Reminds me of the movie Se7en.

Thanks ^_^ lol it does look like that movie se7en, scary movie. Im still not sure what im going to do.

It's a Torque Game Engine logo you have to display, not a GG one.

All builds do. Why? Unsolved mystery, I say.

The EULA states very clearly that you need to display a version of the Torque Game Engine logo in the start up sequence as well as the required about box language and links. We do not want modified versions of our logos used. In fact, since this is causing this much confusion, we will again modify the EULA for version 1.4 to make sure that only approved logos are used. We didn't want to do this, but since it seems that people are already trying to skirt the requirement by putting a tiny little logo up in the ocrner, it seems we have no choice.
Please read our EULA, It is by far the easiest to understand EULA on the planet, but it still has to have precise language. If you have any questions, please post them in the forum or email us.
Remember, if putting a Torque logo in the start-up is too much of a requirement, you can always upgrade to the Commercial License which allows you to release your game with no logo requirements.

It does not matter what we ship TGE 1.4 with since it is our engine, but it is not done yet, and the internal versions have the TGE logo. The requirements are very well defined in the current EULA. Even if you bought the engine in 2002, if you have upgraded to new versions of the engine, you have agreed to the new EULA.The EULA states very clearly that you need to display a version of the Torque Game Engine logo in the start up sequence as well as the required about box language and links. Edit: Isn't there a link around here to the artwork we have to put on our splash screen?

Ok Jeff, that slipped my mind. Indeed you are not bound by the EULA. It just puzzled me.Edit: Isn't there a link around here to the artwork we have to put on our splash screen?

This thread includes a link to a high-res version of the older TGE logo. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Torque Warzone demo includes the newer logo if you can't wait for the stable version of the 1.4 SDK.

@Wysardry: The EULA says you need to use a TGE logo, not a GG one. Different.

I understand about wanting your logo on-screen and not having your corporate identity altered, I understand how important that is. Any attempts to "play with" the corporate logo at my last company were met with a resounding "SLAP!"...
It's also not right for developers using the engine to try to skirt around the EULA by making the image tiny to try to hide it.
But I can understand the community's frustration, we want to use this cool engine but we have to work hard to make the games look unique and individual, as part of that we want to make every aspect unique.
If I made an animated logo and GG liked it, I'd be more than happy to share it with the community as part of a Torque Engine Identity Pack.
If the final word is "Use what we say in the EULA without deviation" then I'll comply happily, but it would be nice to have some flexibility within the spirit of the EULA as opposed to the letter of it.

I was toying with the idea of an Animated DTS version of the Torque logo, in a similar way to the Unreal Tournament 2004 EA logo.. even if this was full screen, at the beginning, showing off the engine a little, is this a no-no? Or would I be OK, sending a demo of it to GG for approval?.. I understand about wanting your logo on-screen and not having your corporate identity altered, I understand how important that is.
