Marble Blast to PSP.

by Neon-Kaboom Studio · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 11/17/2005 (11:42 am) · 17 replies

I'm a really big fan of Marble Blast, though, I havent played the full-version. I was wondering if GarageGames confirmed that Marble Blast would be on PSP. I wish... I mean, PSP's graphic could perfectly suit for Marble Blast on PSP. I'm not so lucky to buy Marble Blast Ultra because I will never buy Xbox360.

Where can I find the full-version of Marble Blast...?!

Click on game store. Ultra should have a PC version as well it's not just for X360. It's being done on TSE I think
so that's PC based.

Ive tried the Marble Blast Gold demo on MAC and its really good! Having it on PSP would be awesome, but hard to control!

Well, after playing Mercury, I'd actually rather have it on the DS and use the tilt control like in Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble. Mercury was fun, but the control was awkward with the strange analog control on the PSP. GTA on the PSP rocks, though. They nailed the analog control. They're about the first one that feels quite right there. SSX felt okay, but a bit slippery. GTA, though...it rocks.

I played Archer Maclean's Mercury too, I finished it in one day. I have recieved email from Ignition Ent. that they are working on a sequel of it called "Mercury Meltdown".

Man, this sucks! I with Marble Blast Ultra could come for PSP. Not enough cash to buy Xbox360.

Has anyone seen any way to port a TGE creation to PSP? I would like to one day take my game to the PSP.

Well, I think the necessary steps would be:
1) Create a game.
2) Get a PSP SDK.
3) Integrate the platform layer for the PSP and rework your content accordingly.
4) $$$

Or some such. I don't know if GG has a PSP DevKit to play with, but I know Orbz was ported to a portable device.

You have to contact microsoft, and buy one. I think they're like 10K, because its a whole PC. Last i heard anyway?

I tried contacting microsoft but never got a reply or phone call. Does anyone know the the phone # to call because I tried to call the phone# one of the reps gave me and they just kept bouncing me all over the place for an hour or so.

Call the general number and ask for information on becoming a registered developer. If you have a proven, professional track record, you can continue as deeply as possible. Otherwise the link on this page will give you the best alternative.

The PSP homebrew community has already developed their own SDK for the PSP, which would allow you to pretty much port anything that uses SDL, OpenGL and various other known cross-platform libraries.

I wanted to try to port the Torque engine with the homebrew SDK once I purchase a license, but it would seem pretty difficult as Torque is a pretty big engine itself.

And using such a SDK would also mean a complete platform rewrite if you happened to garner a PSP development kit to make an official title.

Well, MB is on PC, Linux, Mac, Linspire, Planes, PS2 (still being worked on afaik) XBOX Live Arcade and now MBU on XBOX 360 Live Arcade...

So I doubt it's long until it hits PSP. :)

Yeah, the PSP dev community is cool. I've contributed a few fixes to the pspsdk. Good folk. :)

DS is neat but getting everything to fit into 4MB of dynamic RAM might be a little tricky. ;)

Full version of Marble Blast Gold

Marble Blast Ultra will be available on Xbox Live Arcade soon.

As for a PSP or DS port of any version of Marble Blast - this will not be likely to happen in the foreseeable future, sorry :)
