Can anyone recommend a good rpg please? I want to play something with medievil / fantasy sword and sorcery theme with a big wilderness, lots of crypts, good single player experience, not lots of mind less clicking.

The medieval/fantasy realm, big wilderness and lots of crypts reminded me of Morrowind. It may be an RPG to look into based off of what you're looking for.

My 2 favorite RPGs are Morrowind and Baulders Gate 2.

Morrowind is definetly the most immersive single player RPG I've played, and cannot count how many hours I've put into it without even scratching the surface of seeing it all.

I found Morrowind pointless, like playing a MMORPG alone. It had a huge world for me to explore, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I would ever want to.

Cool AOT - a Torque game - nice one. Grabbing it now. Was Zork ever made 3d?

Don't forget Neverwinter Nights!

Zork Nemesis was 3d-ish - it used prerendered screens like Myst, but you could pan off the edge and it used a scaling effect to make it look like the perspective was right. Not an RPG though.Don't forget Neverwinter Nights!

Of course we'll have Oblivion in a month or two (hopefully). Looks to be the best yet if the hype is anything to go by.

Morrowind, Baldurs gate series, Neverwinter Nights series, all of the old Might and Magic series (except IX which was cr*p) and Heroes Of Might And Magic if you like a more strategy oriented game.Of course we'll have Oblivion in a month or two (hopefully). The Bard's Tale
Wizard's Crown
Fairly New Stuff:
I enjoyed Morrowind. Like Dave, I'm also looking forward to the next game in the series (Oblivion for the Xbox 360). If you're curious check it out at www.elderscrolls.com.

FABLE
Some may argue about how RPG-ish it was, but I loved it. Since my xbox died, that's the one game I've missed most.

The Gothic series isn't focused on getting loot or on mindless killing, but more about making descisions and interacting with the different factions. You do plenty of killing, but you don't spend hours upon hours doing it. The graphics aren't too spectacular, but it has some really fun AI and the combat feels very solid once you get the hang of the controls. The world is big, but not rediculously large and repetitive like Morrowind. I would play Gothic II before Gothic though, Gothic has a ui/control scheme that isn't exactly easy to use, and Gothic II has more interesting AI.
It's interesting to me that this series hasn't caught on in the US, while Morrowind did extremely well. To me, Gothic seemed to have much more character and the world felt so much more planned out.

Even if it has a clumsy interface, it's really good on all the other aspects...

I strongly suggest to anyone who likes fantasy RPG to try Gothic 2. Even if it has a clumsy interface, it's really good on all the other aspects...

Gothic 2 sounds interesting. I dug out Morrowind for a bundleware pack and have been playing it for about a week. Morrowing is exactly what I was looking for these holidays. I did see the development vids for Oblivion but I only just bought an XBox 1 so I think it'll have to be Fable for me for the time being.

Knights of the Old Republic is an excellent Star Wars RPG. It has lots of interesting character development related to the dark/light side of the Force, in addition to some great fights.
