Didn't see this posted elsewhere so I thought I'd mention it here.

I wonder what books were just announced, the article is recent and I don't recall any new book announcements.

Great article. The mention of the book series had me Googling immediately, found this:

www.akpeters.com/product.asp?ProdCode=285X

No details there as yet. Does anyone else know anything about this? This is the first I have ever heard of it.

I think that GG should definitely be bragging about Eric P's use of Torque for NASA projects in atricles like this. It would definitely gain Torque a lot of credibility and publicity which can only be good for all of us in the Torque community.

Trust me, we're on it (and other projects that haven't been announced yet), but joint marketing releases take time (and money) to organize, and the more agencies involved (GG, Valador, NASA, etc.), the longer it can take.

Good stuff.

I can't help but smile when I read that. If I never work in an industry studio again, it will be too soon.

I came extremely close to putting down my art tools for good this past year. I can thank Garage Games and all of the great folks there for rekindling my faith and helping me to simply find joy in the process of creating and satisfaction in the reception I get from the community. A community I must add which is unlike any other I have been a part of.

To everyone at G.G. Thanks very much!

Just for info. The book (see my last post) has a shipping date of March 2006. The summary reads as follows:

Quote:The gameplay code in today's games is largely driven by easy-tolearn-and-use scripting languages, which allow not only experienced programmers but also designers, artists, and testers to implement their game ideas. Maximum Torque provides readers all they need to know about TorqueScript, the scripting language for the Torque Game Engine.

TorqueScript has been in use in professional games for more than six years and is one of the easiest and most popular game scripting languages in the industry. Readers will master TorqueScript, and the lessons learned will help any aspiring or established game developer create games in all modern game engines.

Someting else from GG to look forward to: Constructor, Todds RTS Environment Pack and now this book! My wife's gonna kill me!! ;)
