Single player everquest

This is the first of a bunch of posts i plan on submitting. for a long (LONG) time I was passionate about this idea. I even made a pitiful attempt at making it. but finally realizing that I had neither the resources, schooling, or time to complete it, I will instead post it here and hope someone is interested in picking it up. (because I would still very much like to at least play the thing.) And if not I will cut my losses and forget it. *sob
anyway here is the overall idea:
the simple way to describe it is to say it is like a single player everquest. If you've ever played EQ or a game like it you'll understand better at what im thinking. And if you know what two-boxing on EQ is you will really understand.
For those who don't know what im talking about; Everquest is a MMORPG. My life was controlled by it for a little over a year (for those who've played, you know what im talking about.) Anyway, each player is supposed to control one player in a HUGE game world, but there are some players who have two or more accounts and actually play them at the same time. In other words, someone would controll two characters and would usually fight in the same group. This opens up possibilities the average player doesn't have.
anyway the reason im telling you all of this is because when you start controlling two or three or even six characters there is a great deal of strategy involved. A HUGE ammount of strategy. And when you pull something off, like kill a raid mob, all by yourself (with your six chars) you feel a huge sense of pride because you just did something that the average player (controlling 1 PC) could not do.
There is alot of strategy involved because each class has it's niche. You can't just run up to a monster and start whacking away no matter how many char's you controll. you have to think it through. you have to controll the monster. make it hit who you want it to hit.(the tank) You need someone to heal your tank. you need someone to controll any additional mobs that may wander into the fray. etc... etc... etc..(I hope im explaing this well. those who've played know what I'm talking about.)
so i thought. why not make a game that is like this, but better? why not let someone controll 2 or 6 or even 36 characters. And I'm not talking RTS characters, 36 real, fully developed, fully levelable characters that are exactly like your starting character (except different classes, races, etc..) why not put the player into a HUGE world that they can roam, discover, and eventually controll. (ill explain this aspect later.)
as you can see, this is a HUGE undertaking and would probably take a professional game developer with alot of workers to pull off.
You might say, "wait, I've 2 boxed and It's hard! there's no way you could control 36 players." and you're right. unless you add a few things that lets the player controll them better. like auto-programming, "When this happens, do this." for example: "when the main tank's life reaches 25 percent, cast greater healing." or maybe "when so-and-so attacks then attack their target." etc... Ill go into all this further in future posts. also some hotkey's would help to controll things. the numbers 1 to 9 would be programmable hot keys. but they would be universal. I.e. maybe 1 would tell your warior to run and attack your target, and 2 would tell your cleric to heal the warrior etc..
anyway.. even if this all ammounts to nothing, it feels better just to write it down. Please feel free to let me know what you think. I know that every one has their own idea that they think is the greatest. so if anyone is even interested in hearing anything further from me let me know. /

MoM is a great game take a look at it and try the demo. EQ though.. it's magic is it's multiplayer.. you can make
single player RPG.. there are lots. out there.. like Summoner etc. But eq it'self revolves around / foundation of.. MMOG's.

they got close but not quite what i was looking for *cry
actually my only real gripe is that they put the whole group in one avatar which completely kills most of the strategy part of the group dynamic that worked so well in EQ plus no enchanter, or mob control as far as i can tell.
i'll probably still buy the game though, i need a new drug /

The whole group being portrayed in a single avatar doesn't kill the strategy. You just have to alter your strategy.

There are stuns and sleep spells.

Actually, one reason for the single avatar is so you can concentrate on strategy and not navigation. Which, would have required a *pause* function like Baldur's Gate. There are stuns and sleep spells.

I need to play it more before i can make accurate judgements. that was just my initial concerns.
Im looking forward to its release, (and to when i can scrape up the measly 25 bucks *sigh.)

I agree, having seperate avatars would make it would be hard to navigate. and could slow down the gameplay. I need to play it more before i can make accurate judgements. that was just my initial concerns.
