Instant Content?

Okay - some of you guys know what content packs are out there better than I do, so I wanted to know if any of you could point me in the right direction.

I'm in need of some quick & dirty generic people - preferably animated - with modern dress. For cheap. I'm looking for some non-exclusive royalty-free stuff I could pick up for hopefully just a couple hundred dollars. They could be built from the same geometry (male and female) as far as I'm concerned. I'm just looking for the type of incidental people you might see walking along the street (or hanging out at someone's backyard barbecue). Preferable 1500 polys or less.

I saw something like this once on Gamasutra, but it looked like it was priced more for the well-funded commercial companies than the indie developer.

While I'm at it, I'm also looking for some generic, suburban (or rural) houses & buildings. Most of the content packs out there seem to be focused on cities - I'm looking for something that would be highly appropriate in a modern, backwoodsy farming community. Mobile homes, a gas station, a little convenience store, small houses, etc. Again - I'm looking for non-exclusive content (I hesitate to call it "filler," but that's basically the idea. These aren't signature set-pieces).

I don't know if anything like this exists, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Well since you have the money, there are a few options

http://www.marlinstudios.com/products/people/people.htm

seems like it may be a bit high poly and cost comes in at 299

for a low poly count and around 70 dollar cost

http://www.geo-metricks.com/geo-shop/geo-shop/packs/12business/12business-1.htm

there are others out there as well just do a 3d character search on google and keep on trimming the search till you get what you want.

The quality will vary as well the price.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I could be mistaken, but I think the Marlin Studios characters are image sequences to be placed on a billboard object rather than actual 3D polygonal models. But it looks like they would work fine in Torque.

Here's a model pack that looks very, very nice, with multiple LODs and tons of animations. However, it's way out of your price range (and mine, unfortunately). This is the pack I would buy if I had the money. It's at www.complete-characters.com.

Hey, thanks for the links, guys. That helps. The geo-metrics stuff in particular looks like it has potential - at least as a starting point.

The complete-characters stuff is what I remembered seeing in the news at GamaSutra. The price would be VERY reasonable if I was a big-budget studio. But it's about an order of magnitude above what I'd be willing to consider at this point.

I don't think the geo-metricks characters are animated or even in many cases textured.
(I like their work, BTW, I have bought all their vehicles).
