2 sided materials

Hi,
Is there anything i have to assign in torque, to allow 2 sided materials.
The reason i ask, is that i am exporting a simple plain with a texture on - and the plain and its texture is definatally assigned as '2 sided' - but when i am loading the model into torque, only one side shows, and the other goes transparent.
I have converted my problem model into other formats and it shows in other engines, as it should, i.e. two sided
Thanks
Steve

I just ticked the double sided material button before i exported the dts object - thus effectively rendering the material on both sides of the plain - but it didnt work
Please explain the method you have just described.
Thanks

You simply Duplicate Selection on the plane you want to have two sides, and upon selecting the duplicate plane, hit Face-->Reverse Vertex Order. (Which basically mirrors the plane to face the opposite way.)

Well this is in milkshape, but there should be something very similar in other programs. You simply Duplicate Selection on the plane you want to have two sides, and upon selecting the duplicate plane, hit Face-->Reverse Vertex Order. (Which basically mirrors the plane to face the opposite way.)

Just ticking "2-Sided" on the material works fine in max, so maybe it would help if you told us what software you're using Stevie?

I have the same issue with Blender files. I can see the double-sided texture inside Blender, but in Torque it shows just one side (the other is not visible).

Turn off? Are you sure? I would say it is the oposite... and of course I have tried to turn it ON with no succes. Did you get it working?

Are you using Max ? If yes, check if you have a .cfg file in the same directory where you saved your max file. If not, make sure you have one. I already had problems with 2 sided materials because of this.

i just checked - i have no config document.
Why would the config matter though? cos in max it is showing as souble sided - just not in torque

Without the .cfg file the exporter doesn't work properly. It's simple as that. Just copy the .cfg file that came with the exporter to the same directory where your max file is and re-export.

I exported the model and loaded it into showtool - the underneaths of the model where still see-through and not 2 sided?
This is very puzzling

Try exporting a two sided material with a simple plane first. Remember to save your max file before exporting. You must have your .cfg file in the same directory as your max file.
Check the exporter options to see if two-sided materials are checked.
And the last tip : never mind re-checking for the most stupid erros ( e.g. saving the file before exporting ) I had a hard time with the exporter before figuring out those little things.

What max version are you using ? Are you using the right exporter for this version ?Try exporting a two sided material with a simple plane first. Remember to save your max file before exporting. You must have your .cfg file in the same directory as your max file.
