Joystick Support

The book doesn't seem to list or help how you can add joystick commands for your games is there any help available for this and will any future books help on this subject? I want to make a game with hovertanks, wheeled tanks, e.t.c and I bought this engine because of the in and out of vehicles as well And because it was supposed to have joystick support built in but I can't even get the resource joytick stuff to work or bind in the demo''s?
Also I tried downloading the resopurces on here and I have followed the instriuctions to the letter and I can't get them to work.
Also the CVS utility has changed so I don't know how to update Torque so I can get thew joystick controls in the CVS updated April 2005 Can somebody please help me?
What am I doing wrong?

Ian, to make sure what we're dealing with, can you tell me what Gamepad/joystick your using? Have you tried on a fresh copy of Torque? Also, what version of Torque are you using? If you can think of anything else I might need to know, tell me.

thought I'd jump in here as I'm having problems setting up a joystick too... I've made a little game, which is basically a big tweak of Emaga6 from the book. It seems like Ken's set up is non-standard and so I don't seem to have any of the files that are mentioned in the link Simon posted or the MoveManager/Function pitch code that you're supposed to change and add to. (All I've been able to do so far is change the Prefs:JoystickEnabled bit to 1, not even mentioned in that link!)
Anyone got any tips for how they've got through this? ...At this stage I'm thinking it'd probably be best to go through and re-do the whole project to standardise it... !
Thanks, Bev

I think these instructions should simply come with the engine, you could assign joystick hat commands to views, u axis for forward movement or in a hovertank forard and backward movement or Axis Y E.T.C

Yes Derrick thank you I have a Saitek X36 and 3 Thrustmaster Afterburner 4 axis joysticks I am using the most recent (1.4) basically I would like to be able to access all the joystick or wheel as I have an old Genius 4 axis joywheel and it would be nice if the player could have his vehicle controlled by joysticks if he wished or with the keyboard same thing with his avatar but he could control his/her player avatar with mouse and keyboard but vehciles could be controlled with the joystick.I think these instructions should simply come with the engine, you could assign joystick hat commands to views, u axis for forward movement or in a hovertank forard and backward movement or Axis Y E.T.C
