by Matthews_30 · in Torque Game Builder · 10/14/2005 (11:36 am) · 8 replies

I am looking for a good 2d map file editor compatible with torque map files.

i am closer to buy this one http://www.inet2inet.com/InetSoftware/World-Creator/WCv2/NewFeatures_Form.asp but first i would want to have some comments from you.

the best thing in this soft is taht it can convert a tile into isometric tile.

please post your comments.

thanks.

As far as I know, there's only one good 2d map file editor compatible with torque map files, and you have that one already.

Converting tiles to iso's is not going to help you much unless you do all backend work to make T2D support iso tile maps.

The software seems to be a pretty comprehensive graphics editor that's aimed at designing tiles, but that's all. You could do the same stuff in MS Paint with a bit of patience.

It won't integrate into T2D, output map files that T2D can read, or make T2D work with iso images.

@Matthews

I can access the pages that you posted.
But the website cannot provide a trial version.

I want to try to use it , and I will buy it if it is really what I want. I will use it in our game project , editing some game resources, beacuse our game is an isometric method.

Can you provide a trial version to me ? Thanks.

There's a freeware edition (WC 1.5) on the same site which will give you a good indication of what it can do.

This is a nice little free editor I like. It's straightfoward and does regular, ISO, and even HEX maps!
Would be neat to get it working for T2D. (warning: java runtime required)

You have the torquescript used on the included map editor, using this you can make improve it or wait for the next t2d release (that will *probably* have a better version, not sure about this)
