Now that I have some free time, I'll explain more about this hosting thing. At first I just wanted to rent out full boxes ie: you get the root password, an ip address and off you go. The idea was to give game developers a place to collaborate their code, chat and test their website/game server.

It was a solid idea, but the more people heard that I did the hosting thing, the more they wanted traditional hosting. Basically, a website with a very easy panel to install and manage things. So off I go to get cPanel and an auto-install package that can install over 70 packages for you at the push of a button.

So now I'm trying to combine both worlds. Cpanel for your traditional webpage stuff, a public irc server for communications, a shared development box to test and compile things on (ie: no root), and full development box (ie: root) all Linux of course..
The ultimate goal is to create a one stop place for game development hosting needs. My question is, what kind of services would you guys like to see in a hosting situation?

Wow - are all those packages listed auto-installable? If so, I think that's the largest list I've seen!

The 1GB/month of bandwidth might be a tad low for anyone hosting a game or something that is downloaded, but maybe for $5/month, that is OK. Figuring that most of the T2D things I've grabbed from the "Show Off" forum are 5MB or so, that's only 200 downloads not counting any page views, screenshots, etc.

Personally, I look for a bit more disk space as I use my site to xfer private files when on the road sometimes, so it's nice to be able to store, say, 500MB. 500MB would seem to be a good amount to offer considering that the $10/month is 2GB.

Again, I realize that it's only $5/month so discard my ideas of they are simply unrealistic, but these are things I consider when looking for a cheap hosting package for my (mainly) personal "play around" site.

Yeah, they're all auto-installable.
I'll be offering a GarageGames package really soon that should satisfy most of your requests.
I'm also going to be offering shared and dedicated development boxes also.

ROFL! Your website is one big image?

Yeah, my wife did that. She's a page layout designer/graphic artist for our local newspaper. So basically all she knows is full page layout and just starting web design. Little bit of image mapping and I think it looks nice, much better than my old site.

Seeing as you're only 14 years old, I wouldn't expect you to grasp the concept of - the less money I spend on fancy page design, the less I have to charge people for hosting. Good luck with your free ad supported x10 hosting thing.

@David: lighten up. it's pretty uncooth to post mr pig's PII just because he made a remark about the (rather unusual) fact that your entire page is one image.

I thought you could be doing that to stop screen-scraping search engines, but your reason makes sence too.

It's just that your rebuttal to Mr Pig seems quite a bit over the top.

PS: Definition of "PII" If you are hosting, you should know what that stands for. For the others, it's 'Personally Identifiable Information'.

If it's on whois and google, it's not personal. It's very much public domain.
