Funky texture artifacts on terrain

Greeting all...I've been having some strange video problems using the TSE (and to a lesser degree w/TGE). Basically, the demo textures are getting way out of whack and I'm getting some really crappy results that are tough to describe.

Here are two screenshots from the TSE demo that show what I'm getting. This is very duplicable on TSE and on TGE it happens on the buildings rather than the terrain but is not nearly as duplicable.

This is happening with the 0.2.0 release as well as the 0.1.0 release. Also, it should be said that this is a new problem for me, so it is more likely related to some video cards driver update that I went through. I'm just curious to see if this is happening to anyone else. I'm using an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB card. My more recent driver update was yesterday, and I don't use the Catalyst Control Center.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think there was some AA setting I had that used to cause the same thing.. I use atlas now though, so its not an issue.

Thanks for the reply, Phil. I'm not sure what atlas is...but thanks. :)

Just a follow up to my original message. I downgraded my drivers from the 8/30/05 drivers to the 3/21/05 drivers, and the problem appears to go away.

I suspected it might be related to my drivers, but I try not to downgrade unless I'm sure.

Is there a channel for GG to communicate problems like this to hardware vendors? I'm sure if I report this to ATI, it wouldn't accomplish much.

Thanks...

Atlas is the milestone 2 new terrain engine that is generations (no---mega-generations) beyond the milestone 1 terrain engine. Search around the forums a bit for "atlas", and you will see some screenies!

You need to use CVS to grab the latest and greatest of the TSE codebase for the current implementation.
