Carrara Users?

Don't have the money for 3D Studio Max or Maya, so I got Carrara 4 Pro recently... mainly because I'm familiar with an earlier version of this 3D model called Ray Dream Studio.

I'd like to get a list/thread going for anyone here who has/uses Carrara for their Torque game development. As long as I can get the Carrara SDK, I would also like to look into creating a DTS exporter for Carrara. Has anyone else out there attempted this yet?

ps. I'm looking for others interested in creating a Carrara -> Torque DTS exporter.

I'm a Carrara user too (version 4 standard).

I wish ta have a DTS exporter for this app too, with animations and correctly Uvmapped. Unfortunatelly, i have not enough knowldege.

It will be interesting to have an entire exporters collections. But i only can wait for it.

At this moment, the only thing is to export using the Carrara>Unreal exporter (you can find it searching in the Eovia's site). It allows to export to Unreal with animations; then, you can use Milkshape to bridge these to Torque. I don't tested it, but it seems the only one way to export animations from Carrara to Torque (and many other game engines).

You can also export your models as OBJ, with textures. then, open them in Blender; you may need to include these textures manually in Blender (or Milkshape again). I not tested this way extensivelly; just to see wath things can i do. You can exports your shaders too :D:D; as bitmaps of course, but it's a great thing.

At this point, my intention is to use Carrara as modeler. It isn't the best option, but the most friendly and fast for me. For texturing, i don't know. I'm a painter and illustrator, and i like to make textures by hand. So, i don't know wich program i will finally use.

The main problem are the animations.

Check the Carrara SDK. If i can help in something, let me know. But at this point, it seems to me a very hard task.

Good luck
